Glenn Beck and the Oakland Shooter (WaPo's Dana Milbank smears Beck as inciting violence)
The Washington Post ^ | Sunday, August 1, 2010 | Dana Milbank

Late on a Saturday night two weeks ago, an unemployed carpenter packed his mother's Toyota Tundra with guns and set off for San Francisco with a plan to kill progressives.

When California Highway Patrol officers stopped him on an interstate in Oakland for driving erratically, Byron Williams, wearing body armor, fired at police with a 9mm handgun, a shotgun and a .308-caliber rifle with armor-piercing bullets, Oakland police say. Shot and captured after injuring two officers, Williams, on parole for bank robbery, told investigators that he wanted "to start a revolution" by "killing people of importance at the Tides Foundation and the ACLU," according to a police affidavit. His mother, Janice, told the San Francisco Chronicle that her son had been watching television news and was upset by "the way Congress was railroading through all these left-wing agenda items."

But what television news show could have directed the troubled man's ire toward the obscure Tides Foundation, which sounds as if it's dedicated to oceanography, or perhaps laundry detergent, but which is in fact a nonprofit that claims to support "sustainability, better education, solutions to the AIDS epidemic and human rights"?

A week after the incident, the mystery was solved. "Tides was one of the hardest things that we ever tried to explain, and everyone told us that we couldn't," Fox News host Glenn Beck told his radio listeners on Monday. "The reason why the blackboard" -- the prop Beck uses on his TV show to trace conspiracies -- "really became what the blackboard is, is because I was trying to explain Tides and how all of this worked." Beck accuses Tides of seeking to seize power and destroy capitalism, and he suggests that a full range of his enemies on the left all have "ties to the Tides Center."

Lunacy! This person implies if Tides Foundation is allowed to do what they do under cover of darkness, no one reporting on them, the shooter would have no knowledge of them. Therefore because Beck is the only one on they can find who mentioned them, he incited this shooter.

These people become more insane by the day.

These people become more insane by the day.

They are not insane at all. They know exactly what they're doing. They don't let any truth go unchallenged with lies and smears.

Same goes for some who says that the Administration is dumb or inept in their policies. They are going by the Marxist/Alinsky book, if you will, to "transform" America to a tenth world communist entity.

Our day will come and we should be trying them for treason and punish them ruthlessly for their crimes.

Well, what do you say to that, Mr. Milbank? Come the day of reckoning, Mr. Milbank will be one of many leaving the country in a liberal/progressive/communist exodus.

I agree with you, they do know what they are doing. But Marxist.communist policies and the lies these folks throw out there, are insane! Regardless of how much they believe them or don't believe them. It is insane to think that Americans are that stupid or that blind to their lies. Yet they continue down the same roads at lightening speed.

I pray we sweep both the house and senate in Nov. but also that enough true conservatives are elected in that sweep! When they are they need to unabashedly ridicule these policies and point out WHY they are wrong headed AND start saying what We The People have known from the start. I want to hear every one of them saying over and over, “that is ridiculous” every time they lie and tout a lunatic policy.

Police said Williams was wearing body armor and was armed with a high-powered hunting rifle, a pistol and a shotgun at the time of the stop. He had a three-ring binder, recovered from the truck he was driving by a bomb squad robot, with the word "California" scrawled across its cover. Authorities have declined to say what was in the binder.

I-580 gunman's notebook contained ramblings

The guy is a kook and a felon. How do we know he wasn't on his way to rob another bank and just made up the story about starting a revolution?

If the actions of the Tides group/foundation angers crazies, how is that the fault of the one who exposed them?

That's what I was wondering. He didn't hate Beck. He hated Marxism.
Right motive - wrong method, though.

Glenn Beck is simply doing what the MSM has failed to do and that is to exposed corruption instead of helping to keep it hiddenl like the mainstream media is doing.

Yep. This info about the Oboma administration should be every day news. If the press were doing it's job, and defending the Republic like it's suppose to, everyone would know all about it.

Every American is, but we haven't take to the streets seeking vigilante justice. Yet.

Typical lazy liberal media reporting. But then again, this is the clown who wore a hunting vest covering the Cheney shooting.

Actually, just to set the record straight, Dana wore a road guard vest (hwy maintenance) and not a hunting vest. He was so lazy, he grabbed something in orange and called it a hunting vest.

Taking at least the House is the first step. We have to keep on top of the new House and demand that they defund everything passed in the last two years.

The new Republican House will obviously have Conservatives and many stone-less Republicans. We have to be on top of them to make sure they defund ALL the communist agenda in a matter of days.

They are “the purse” and therefore, no repeal bills are required because they won’t pass the Senate or a veto.

0bagger’s hoof isn’t needed to soil the House defunding efforts. NO MONEY, PERIOD!

Milbank is a nancy-ass Ruling-Class wannabe. 3 guns makes a truck “packed”? I can show Mr. Milbank more than that on an everyday commute. And ALL .308 rifle shells are “armor piercing”. What a putz. Probably had never shot a gun. He better watch out—those glasses of his look like a pair of targets.
