Chelsea Clinton weds at exclusive New York estate

RHINEBECK, N.Y. – Chelsea Clinton wed her longtime boyfriend under extraordinary security at an elegant Hudson River estate late Saturday.

Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton announced in a statement that their daughter wed investment banker Marc Mezvinsky after weeks of secrecy and buildup that had celebrity watchers flocking to the small village of Rhinebeck for the evening nuptials.

The site of the wedding, a Beaux Arts riverside estate called Astor Courts, was sealed off from the general public.

"Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends," the Clintons said.

"We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family.

On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day."

The ceremony was conducted by a rabbi and a reverend as Chelsea Clinton is Methodist and Mezvinsky is Jewish, and included a poem by Leo Marks titled, "The Life That I Have," according to the family.

Consistent with Chelsea Clinton's desire for privacy, the family had released no details of the wedding beyond the date.

But the scope of the event became apparent when more than a half-dozen busloads of wedding guests — men in black tie, women in dresses — were transported from a hotel in the village to the riverside ceremony as gawkers looked on.

I would not wish ill of this couple who are starting their
life together.
Her parents.......that’s another story, they have their
karma to work through.

Lovely photo of the bride and groom. I hope (and think) they’re better people than their parents.

Chelsea and Mark have kept a low profile. They seem like a nice couple.

it is a freesia.. I think Chelsea’a BQ has white peonies, ctalyia orchids, maybe freesia too. As a florist, I would be upset if one of my boots broke in half..like the grooms.
I’m sure there’s more flowers, but it doesn’t look like 500,000.00$

She is elegant and classy and has made the most with what God gave her. You cannot ask any more from someone.

Well-said...

I am not a fan of the Clintons their politics in particular although I think Chelsea and her new husband look very happy.
I am a sucker for a wedding. I saw some pictures of Bill walking his daughter down the aisle and I have to say it was touching and I could see Hillary in the background of one shot beaming smiling from ear to ear. They do love their daughter it is obvious and it looks as if they all had a wonderful day!

I like Hillary’s dress that you can only see vaguely in the background. It is very flattering and pretty.

Yes, the dress is gorgeous and Chelsea looks happy, radiant and as well as she can possibly look.

Like to see a better photo of the dress, expect we will.

I know Chelsea wanted him to lose some weight but Slick does not look good. He would look better with another 10 pounds at least. His face is very drawn and he looks tired.

ctalyia orchids

Do you mean Cattleya orchids? In post 33 none of the flowers look big enough to be Catts.

Bill is really looking old, wonder how his health really is.
Could not the guy have worn a nice Tux. Terrible suit for this occasion.

Thank you for posting the first pictures. I snitched them for the thread on all the Presidential brides. I hope you don’t mind. Chelsea’s dress is beautiful and tailored to a T. I prefer more coverage on a bride, but I guess in an outdoor setting strapless is OK. I don’t like to see it in church, however. I read that the wedding was on a river bank.

I am so happy that it is unlikely that we’ll see the Obama girls getting married in the WH. They are far too young, and he’ll be out of office before they marry. He’ll be out of office unless he decrees himself “Emperor for Life” by fiat.

HRC is pushing 63 now-—age is catching up to her. Probably lifestyle too being SOS and flying across the world and adapting to jet lag and time zones. Takes a toll on the body and she’s probably not quite much into exercise.
She’s not all that bad looking but she is surely fading into grandma world.
