The Waco, Texas Ross Dress store has been accepting pesos in payment for merchandise.
WACO (July 28, 2010)--The Waco Ross Dress for Less Store has been accepting pesos in payment for clothes, accessories, decorations and more and customers' reactions are mixed.
Some said Wednesday theyre concerned the dollar could be devalued if the practice spreads to other businesses.
Customer Amy Silva told News 10, "I think we need to stand up and say, 'Stop this.' This is America, and we have an American dollar."
Sharen Underwood says she feels if the practice catches on, the negative effects could be far reaching.
That'd be rough, she said.
But other customers called the decision to accept Mexican currency a positive move.

When you buy their products because they are the best value, you’re doing both countries a favour. They get more money in their economy, which in turn reduces the need to send people abroad to bring in cash.
Try looking around the country and you’ll find places accepting different currencies or valuables for payment. Check out PayPal and see how many different currencies you can pay with. Until it becomes illegal a business will determine the best methods of making it easiest for their customers to do business with them.
I really don’t buy Mexican mangos to do the Mexicans a favor and help their economy, but of course that is the result.

That reminds me...
Q: Why did G-d invent goyim?
A: SOMEbody has to buy retail.
Peet (my memory works weird)
I'd shop there more often......
So let’s see
Spanish Language - check
Mexican Peso - check
Mexican Demogrpahics - check
Mexican culture - check
Yep - the invasion and takeover is moving right along.
LOL
Old Joke but, still funny.
Yeah, remember when "Canadian dollars accepted at par" was a big advertising tool? Of course, now that they're actually at par, it's lost its luster.
Pesos ping. The comments at the web site are mostly against this practice.
Shalom!
Been to the Texas panhandle recently?
Seemed like every second or third shop window is in Spanish.
Guess we’re powerless to stop this third world takeover.
No, I haven’t been up north of Round Rock lately. I’ve been through the 71 & 290 corridors to Houston for the most part.
I got this in an email from a friend in Waco earlier.
The store does accept foreign debit and credit cards and the spokesperson said employees who said the store accepted pesos were referring to those when they responded to the question of whether Mexican currency was accepted.
When asked during a phone call Thursday if the store accepted pesos, an employee said No and hung up.
Employees of the Waco store said Wednesday, however, they had accepted Mexican currency for several years, but the spokesperson said corporate officials had no knowledge of that.
Some Ross stores closer to the U.S.-Mexico border are authorized to accept Mexican currency in payment and stores in other markets in the U.S. accept Canadian and Japanese currency in payment, the spokesperson said.
A: SOMEbody has to buy retail.
LOL I resemble that remark!
Ping!
Yep - the invasion and takeover is moving right along.
The funny thing is, when I go to the little fishing town I visit in Baja, they speak English, they take dollars, the town is probably half gringo, and I can get all the American culture I want, from satellite TV to newspapers to radio.
Thanks for the ping. This store has courted Spanish speaking Hispanic shoppers from the day they opened their doors. I refuse to go in there because I feel like a stranger in a strange land. You don’t hear English, there are hordes of little Mexican children running around totally unattended, the illegal alien customers are rude, and there is a garage sale atmosphere. The shopping center where it is located is wonderful, but IMO Ross has made a conscious decision to alienate legal citizens. Marshall’s a few doors away is where I go.
I agree!! It is a completely different atmosphere than Marshall’s. Ross is on the trashy side...
What little town would that be?
