As the right to carry spreads across the United States, many law enforcement agencies and police officers express their unease and for some, outright alarm at the idea of citizens carrying concealed weapons.
......
Law abiding citizens do not expect to be treated like a felon nor should they be. They will be angry if you prone them out, spread eagle them against a wall, or take their firearm from them without just cause. Good point to remember: A little thought and common sense goes a long way here.

Just hang on to your sanity, dark.
I’m sure the situation was traumatic, but you only did what was necessary to protect yourself and others.
Time to move on from that experience and stop beating yourself up because of the outcome. That kid was no different from a grown man, in that he was trying to kill you or your fellow soldiers/Marines.
Welcome to FR!
Why bother even bringing it up for a traffic stop?
Absolutely no need unless you get out of the car.
(no need to inform in PA)
Agree 100% with that advice. No point in making turing an easy-going 5 minute traffic stop into a tense 30 minute one.
That being said I often I OC and have never had any issues.
It’s required by law.
Eric Holder's DOJ?
If only bumper stickers had more space...
Interesting info on how LEOs detect CCW. I use a pocket holster with a mouse gun (P64 Makarov) in my strong side front packet the extra mag in the offhand front pocket. In light of this article I am thinking about going to a different system. I do find myself “adjusting” when I carry to avoid printing. Even the DeSantis pocket holster prints a bit when worn with slacks. I wouldn’t want some hyperactive LEO mmistaking me for a gangbanger because of my carry choice. Has anyone got any experience with the deep cover groin holsters he talks about? I’ve seen them on web pages but honestly they look pretty uncomfortable.
My mindset also...for the same reasons.
Here in Nevada you can legally have a loaded handgun in your car and are under no obligation to inform the cop that you have a weapon.
Thread winner!
You wouldn't be normal...if you didn't have some remorse over it. But you are trying to make some rational sense out of something that is not normal...ie: a kid toting a rifle intent on killing you.
You did what you had to do...
Hang in there, man.
FRegards,
Surely you don’t look like a gang banger!?!?!?
Here in Nevada you can legally have a loaded handgun in your car and are under no obligation to inform the cop that you have a weapon.Same here in Texas too. It is a very liberating feeling.
LOL, no. I’m a stereotypical over-the-hill nerd (too young for a slide rule but too old to have much hair left). But when it comes to shootin’ things I don’t want there to be any doubt. I don’t much care for the pocket rig, anyway.
Thank you both.
He lays out the psychological and trauma an officer can experience in a shooting. Even in a "good shoot" incident, an officer can suffer for the rest of his life. There are people who assume that the officer fires the weapon, gives a statement, and that pretty much wraps it up. No, the shooting lives on and on in the mind of the officer.
I wear boots a lot.....I like the ankle holster, although it’s hard to get at. I carry a Sig P230SL...at the moment.
