Ahmadinejad blasts Paul the octopus

TEHRAN, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Paul the octopus -- famed predictor of World Cup games -- is a tool to spread "Western propaganda and superstition."

Ahmadinejad said in a speech during the weekend that the octopus is a symbol of his enemies' "decadence and decay," the Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday.

"Those who believe in this type of thing cannot be the leaders of the global nations that aspire, like Iran, to human perfection, basing themselves in the love of all sacred values," Ahmadinejad said in one of several references to the animal.

Workers at Germany's Oberhausen Sea Life Center, where Paul lives, presented the mollusk with two boxes containing food, each with a team's flag on the outside. Paul opened the box of the eventual winner each time he was presented with a choice.

Paul correctly predicted the outcome of all of Germany's seven World Cup matches, going on to choose Spain over the Netherlands in the World Cup final.

Congress would just as soon support Ahmadinejad over Paul the Otopus. Want to get rid of the defict? Put Paul and Ahmadinejad in a tank and charge admission to watch them wrestle. My money is on Paul to suck the life out of the letter Iranian s.o.b.

He's just in a pissy mood because of the secret test by the Oberhausen Sea Life Center where they put in two boxes with Israel's and Iran's flags on them.

"Those who believe in this type of thing cannot be the leaders of the global nations that aspire, like Iran, to human perfection,

I thought that Islam believed that only Allah was perfect... sounds like someone's begging for a stoning.

A Russian bookmaking company is offering to pay 100,000 euros for Paul, the prognosticating octopus who correctly predicted Spain’s win in the World Cup.

“100,000 euros (about $129,800) was our starting price,” Oleg Zhuravsky, co-owner of Liga Stavok — “Bet League” in Russian — told CNN. He said the offer could be increased if need be — “We are bookmakers, after all.”

Paul currently lives at the Sea Life Center in Oberhausen, Germany. Zhuravsky said a representative of the center’s public relations firm has told him the offer has been received and “they are studying it.”

However, the firm, Dederichs Reinecke and Parner, said it declined the Russian offer and that Paul will not be sold to anyone.

“Seriously speaking, we want the octopus for a number of purposes,” Zhuravsky said. “First, to see whether he can indeed effectively forecast the results of the football games. Secondly, Paul could become a good mascot, a good symbol for my bookmaking companies. And thirdly, he has an international fame like perhaps no other animal across the world does these days, and I’d love to be able to move him to Russia.

“Both kids and adults, I’m sure, would love to see him here,” he said. “We are even prepared to put him in the Moscow City Aquarium if that were the condition.”

He said Paul would be given “the best food” and officials would let him forecast the results of the Russian domestic football tournament, “which, I think, is a more difficult task than predicting the World Cup,” he said. “This would also boost the profile of the Moscow Aquarium.”

Speaking of superstition, Ahmmy, here’s one for ya. Something called “Allah” is claimed to exist, by a pedophile named Mohammed.

There is such a thing as “stupid Islam” and there are a couple hundred million who follow it. These are the young modern muslim men and women who never once picked up a Koran.
