SAN QUENTIN, CA (KGO) -- The Novato man convicted of killing a 9-year-old girl when he was riding his motorcycle last year was murdered Monday by an inmate at San Quentin Prison.
Edward Schaefer received a life sentence two weeks ago for killing Melody Osheroff. He was being processed at the prison when California Corrections officials say another convicted killer, Frank Souza, stabbed him half a dozen times with a metal knife-like object.

Jailhouse killer:
I love a happy ending. (sniff)
bump with no comment.
Well, the "life sentence" thing turned out to be right on. The writer of this piece would have done himself and his readers a service to have simply called the "metal knife-like object" a shank.
The picture of Mr Souza certainly depicts a happy-go-lucky chap ... not at all the kind one would suspect of shanking a fellow inmate, body decoration notwithstanding.

Adios cucaracha!
Sometimes justice comes slowly, sometimes not at all.
And some times it comes clad in klan tattoos...
Life’s funny like that.
Justice comes in some funny forms.
Even prisons have a moral code.
I think the tats that show tears near the eyes are
jailhouse slang for having previously killed. Guess
this guy had both the hat and the cattle. Or the sizzle
and the steak.
To think that the tax payers have to feed, cloth and house this freak is disgusting. I have absolutely no sympathy for the DUI mutt, but true justice would be served if they put this tattooed piece of filth down right away.
Watch the video and see Schaefer give the finger. He was quite the jerk.
It was an efficient life sentence. ALl life sentences should be short, 10-30 days.
He was sentenced for murdering a guy while stealing his bicycle, and I think I counted five teardrops. He's got a grin on his face like he's going to Disney World. That guy scares the crap out of me.
You know what Heath Ledger was pretending to be in the Dark Knight? That's him for real.
About the only good thing to come out of this is that Schaefter will not get another chance to kill or maim while DUI.
Yep! When my wife says something like, "I can't believe he (or she) would do something like that," I remind her that Ted Bundy was a very likable guy ... most of the time.
Now they need to toss Frank Souza in with Charles Manson, and tell him Manson was calling Souza his bitch.
