If Palin wanted to continue on to higher elected office, she shouldn't have quit her term as governor.

It would make for a prettier picture in some respects if Sarah Palin were coming off a second completed term as governor. However, the larger American political scene would have probably been the poorer for her absence. The idiots who hounded her out of the governor’s mansion forgot to consider that she was going to land somewhere else, guns blazing. They would have actually had more influence for their side of the political conflict had they left Sarah Palin alone.
