former CIA chief Michael Hayden said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."
My personal view is that Iran left to its own devices will get itself to that step right below a nuclear weapon," said Hayden, "and frankly that will be as destabilizing as their actually having a weapon.

I know, it'll never happen under 0bama.
Wag the dog bombing is coming before 2012 elections....
You’re right for a bunch of reasons.First, our muslim would never bomb a muslim country.Second,he doesn’t have the guts.
Dear Leader is much more likely to invade or bomb Arizona than Iran, and anybody above the age of four knows it.
Zero will convince Israel to do it (secretly), and then not help them when Iran counterattacks.
The only way he’d attack would be out of desperate weakness. Which is pretty darn scary.
I’ve thought for a long time that JPost was slightly less relevant and/or reliable as a “news” source than even our very own WaPost.
This confirms my guess.
Under The O’s “administration”, the only US attack on Iran will be done using flying pigs.
I don’t know what Iran would do.They will be looking at 300 to 700 Israeli nukes targeted on them if they counterattack.
It’s sickening that you talk about risky military action in such coy terms as “doesn’t have the guts.” Bombing a foreign country, which has not made an offensive move against us militarily, is always a serious action that puts many peoples lives at risk in the service.
Please try to consider this, and talk about bombing foreign countries in a more respectful way.
Counterattack, yea, right. All it is going to take is one huge situation to shake the stability of the regime and it will be all over. The only thing Israel will be doing at that point is mopping up in Lebanon and throwing the Palis to the sharks who take up arms in Gaza.
I’d love to see Israel repeat the ‘67 war, and put the Arab world back where it belongs.
I just don’t trust the Muslim In Chief to help them when it really counts - but rather to sell them out to his fellow Jihadists.

Welcome to FR, troll.
The soldiers in Beriut, diplomats at the Tehran embassy and the soildiers in Iraq fighting the insurgency would beg to differ with you troll.
Let's assume Iranians are good at strategy, very paranoid, and more than a little nuts ( leaders willing to let their citizen go to Allah - while they leave the country and sit this one out in UAE...)
Here's a nightmare scenario - 5 nukes go off in Israel - destroying the country. Some of the nukes are "in place" some are dropped by small planes that are not identified with a country. After the nukes go off - Iran states it wasn't them... and sure enough - it looks like the bombs might have been bought from the Russian mob or North Korea or even China - blackmarket stuff...
Israel can't retaliate - they're finished. We hold off because we don't know where the nukes came from... With Obama and liberals in charge - the liberal establishment bends over backwards to make sure not to go after Muslims without massive proof - ( NOT PC). Besides, it might have been the Amish after all- must investigate...
In the mean time Iran is making the case that Israel is dead anyhow - so there's no hurry to the investigation - then later - even if it was them - the "issue" no longer exists... ( Israel's existence being in their mind 'the issue')
Iran needs to be told in no uncertain terms that if the above happens, they will be bombed because we know they're nuts... ( or something like that - only a little more diplomatic)
At least a good fraction of Israel’s nukes would survive intact. Then the Masada complex would come into play.
Skipping the zero factor, why wait?
