THOMPSON: You know she may be in the first stages of Newtism, and that is, uh, being...being a real player and going around the country making lots of money. (Laughs)

In other words, she can just get in the line and wait her Republican turn. Gov. Palin won’t respond well to that message. It sounds too much like sit down and shut up.

The Republican machine is not going to select the candidate this time. Their idea is that they will take over the tea party groups, sell them on Newt, and it will look like a popular movement for Newt. —Not going to happen. The people who make up the tea party movement will not be led by them. Instead they will take over the Republican Party and nominate their candidate.

Newt is more Republican than Palin and Palin is more conservative than Newt. Palin has the ability to challenge an opponent without being considered mean. If Newt were to take it to Obama (which I doubt he will), he would be perceived as a mean Republican southern racist. Newt is fooling himself if he thinks that people have forgotten or forgiven past misdeeds. They have only forgotten until he gets the nomination, then they will remember every one.

We have our best shot with Palin 2012.
