Is this man Obama's worst nightmare?
World Net Daily ^ | July 21, 2010 | Chelsea Schiling

Posted on 07/22/2010 7:46:52 AM PDT by no dems

He could be President Obama's worst nightmare – a business mastermind, a natural problem solver and a black man of "substance" who says he would "take the race card off the table" in a challenge against Obama as the GOP presidential candidate in 2012.

Has Obama met his match?

"We need a realistic candidate to run on the Republican ticket who can beat Barack Obama – not just beat the Democrats," Herman Cain, an Atlanta radio talk-show host, former CEO of Godfather's Pizza and 2004 Senate seeker, told WND. "We've also got to beat Barack Obama."

He added, "Obama is a master of rhetoric. He is a master of deceptive language. And any white candidate who runs against him will be up against the race card. I take the race card off the table."

Cain, a devout Christian, emphasized he is "prayerfully considering" a 2012 bid for the GOP nomination.

His supporters have launched a "Draft Herman Cain for President 2012" effort to develop teams of volunteers and build a grass-roots base for a presidential campaign. "That's been growing like gangbusters," Cain said. "That's the sort of thing I'll be looking at in the next couple of months in making this decision."

>>So are you saying these folks don’t stand a chance either?<<

If those people are running for President, then yes.

“He is against the VAT and wrote an article on it recently (it’s probably on his web site).”

“They are not the same.”

I know they are not the same but they have the same disastrous outcome!

“And he is nowhere near Huckabee in general, who is not a fiscal conservative.”

Isn't it ODD, that you admit that the Huckster is NOT a fiscal conservative but Cain also ENDORSE the SAME fiscal TAX policy as the Huckster?

It's because Cain has the same mindset as the Huckster! Neither is business savvy and I dare say, simple minded.

No thanks!

I don't want a BLACK Huckster either.

It's becoming CLEARER why Cain offered up his SKIN COLOR as a major qualification to be a Presidential candidate. We really don't need MORE of that. We really don't need a BLACK Huckster pushing idiotic fiscal policy that the Huckster pushed. NO THANKS!

No, Obama has poisoned the well for Black candidates for President for the next century. Thanks to the AA President no one will trust them again.

Put a White guy back in and get some competency back in office. Don't like my attitude .. deal with it.

Okay, so let me get this straight. Your arguement is this:

Huckabee is an idiot
Huckabee supports fair tax
Herman Cain also supports fair tax
Herman Cain therefore must be an idiot?

My point about Huckabee, which you missed, is that Herman Cain is nothing like him.

In any case, you are, for whatever reason, making an argument against someone you know nothing about.

There are folks here, including myself, who have listened to his show every day for years, and some here on FR who know Herman personally. To say Herman Cain would expect to be elected based on his race is so from the truth as to be ridiculous. It goes against everything he believes, promotes and has been talking about on conservative radio for years.

I have also heard all these tired arguements against Fair Tax, and every one of them has been rebutted effectively ad nauseum, so I just won’t go there with you.

Well fiscally speaking, YES, Cain is an idiot if he supports what the Huckster supports fiscally. There is no way around that. It is simplistic, idiotic fiscal policy that we should NOT want by the Huckster or Cain - regardless of their SKIN COLOR. I am looking at POLICY.

You are the one that tried to sell me on Cain. You did not succeed. You may have known him for ages but that doesn't change his wrongheaded fiscal policy concerning the “Fair Tax”. Length of time knowing someone has nothing to do with a wrong policy!

“To say Herman Cain would expect to be elected based on his race is so from the truth as to be ridiculous. It goes against everything he believes, promotes and has been talking about on conservative radio for years.”

Then WHY does CAIN offer his RACE as a highlight? I agree, it is RIDICULOUS but that is what your guy, Cain has done. I'm sick of people using RACE as some kind of an advantage as CAIN is trying to do! You've talked yourself into a RACIST corner along with Cain and you don't see it.

“I have also heard all these tired arguements against Fair Tax, and every one of them has been rebutted effectively ad nauseum, so I just won’t go there with you.”

You don't need to. The UNPOPULARITY of the “Fair Tax” hawked by Huckabee proves how tired it is. It gained no traction because it is itioic and designed for simple people that do NOT understand BUSINESS nor economic restraints on the impoverished.

The Fair Tax PUNISHES impoverished people. I am suprised that Cain, a supposed business man would push that garbage and that is what it is. Cain is exploiting people's ignorance as Huchabee tried to do.

So by your logic McCain was a ‘P!$$’ Poor candidate and McCain was white, so I guess we don't back anyone that is white? Or a Vet, or a man, or from Arizona? or has held the office of Senator? or...

As for me I found Herman to be a honest Christian gentleman. I have never heard him promote his race as reason to either vote or agree with him. This line from Saara's 'Killer Angels' comes to mind: "No two things on this earth are equal or have an equal chance, not a leaf nor a tree. There's many a man worse than me, and some that are better, but I don't think race or country matters a damm. What matters is justice. 'Tis why I'm here, I'll be treated as I deserve, not as my father deserved." I plan to treat Herman as he deserves and for his own merits and not for his race and especially not for the failings of others.

The only thing that matters to me is would I vote for the man if he were white, or Hispanic, or Asian. If the answer is yes then it matters not one whit to me what color he is.

From what I know of this man so far the answer is yes, he has what it takes. And just happens to be black. Just like Sarah Palin just happens to be female.

Well said. There are a handful people in politics speaking out right now who seem to articulate well everything conservatives believe in - Michelle Bachman, Jim DeMint, Tom Price (my rep), Herman Cain, Sarah Palin, and recently Bobby Jindal.

Like you, in 2012, I will vote for the best conservative running.

I never said that. You haven't read what I wrote here. McCain is a RINO. McCain is WHITE, gasp! I didn't want McCain either but I held my nose and voted for the SOB. Save your McCain love affair with someone else who adores him. McPain is a shinning example of what is WRONG with the GOP. Powell s another shinning example of what is WRONG with the GOP - picks people based on COLOR and a RINO at heart.

“As for me I found Herman to be a honest Christian gentleman. I have never heard him promote his race as reason to either vote or agree with him.”

Well good for YOU! The Huckster claimed to be a “Christian” too! Well, NOW you have heard him promote his RACE! There is always a first time. Why he's willing to throw in his hat and by being BLACK, this is supposed to DRAW SUPPORT and “take away the RACE card”.

“I plan to treat Herman as he deserves and for his own merits and not for his race and especially not for the failings of others. “

I plan to vote for who has policies that are GOOD for America. I don't care what they LOOK like. I LOOK at the “failings” of others and see if they have LEARNED from it. Cain has NOT learned from his failings - supporting affirmative action and the “Fair Tax” are debunked and FAILED policies that people do NOT want.

I have read a number of post saying that because of Obama the chances of another black man being elected POTUS has been crushed and that race relations have been set back.

Well I deeply disagree, for one thing Obama election has shown people that voting for anyone just because of the color of their skin is ludicrous, the color of a man’s skin doesn’t determine if he is qualified to do any job.

I think and hope that Obama’s election has accomplished one other thing that we are finally going to stop looking at the superficial aspects of candidates (Are they Christian, Catholic, Mormon, Jew, white, black, brown and yes even are the Republican, Democrat, Independent) and look and choose the person most qualified.

Hopefully some have with Obama’s election realized just because you like someone for what ever reason (be it race, religion, personality) it doesn’t mean they are able to do a job.

The fact that Herman Cain is black alone should not disqualify him and certainly the fails of Obama should not disqualify him just because they share skin color.
I am not so naive as to think that they will not be those who oppose him because he is black (especial those who now hold the opinion that Obama has proved that a Black cannot hold the office) and among those who would feel that Herman because of his conservative Christian views just isn’t Black enough (those who would view him as a House Ni…), but both these views are racist in themselves and I will not waste my time with people of that caliber.

Am I promoting Herman Cain because he is Black? No that to would be in my opinion racist in itself. I am promoting him because of his record of promoting and speaking up for conservative values. Herman was endorsing, encouraging, and living these values long before any thought of running for the office of POTUS. He is clearly an ‘outside the beltway’ candidate who has practical life experience outside of politics. These are among the chief reasons I support him.

Clearly POTUS candidates are like just about everything and ‘one size doesn’t fit all’, but to say a person is not a qualified candidate because of they share skin color with a failed (even an EPIC Failed) politico is beneath the dignity of this forum and is against everything we should stand for.

Disagree with his policies, words, point out weaknesses in his background, education and/or experience, but not that his skin color.

As I have posted before this line from Saara’s ‘Killer Angels’ comes to mind: “No two things on this earth are equal or have an equal chance, not a leaf nor a tree. There's many a man worse than me, and some that are better, but I don't think race or country matters a damn. What matters is justice. ‘Tis why I'm here, I'll be treated as I deserve, not as my father deserved.”

Until such time as I find Herman Cain wanting in any of these areas I will treat him as he deserves.

The good old GOP doesn’t support anyone we support; so this time let’s elect who we want; not who George Soros wants like John McCain.

Wonder how many congress critters are owned by George?

Somehow we've got make it abundantly clear to the GOP powers-that-be that will NOT sit still for another of their infamous “It's my turn” nominations. Absolutely, no more Doles or McCain's. Period.

I don't know what to suggest we do to get it across to them other than assure them that going that route will simply be assuring another four years of Obama. They need to understand that they can't win without us. And truth be told, we can't win without them. Third party runs have an abysmal record. To make this work we have to make certain we put as many solid conservatives in Congress in Nov. as we possible.

I wish I were more confident. I fear if we don't do it this time we are going to see our ability to determine our future on our own out of our reach.
