Bill Loeb was a top-notch editor and conservative. I wrote several articles for him back in the 70’s.
He was also a friend and advisor to Pres. Teddy Roosevelt (I worked with TR’s granddaughter, a MUL reporter).
I once asked Loeb what were his journalistic policies regarding editorial and letters to the editor pages (the MUL back then used to have up to four full pages of letters, per issue). These are his exact words:
“The editorial page belongs to me. The Letters to the Editor page(s) belongs to the people.”
It can’t get any clearer and better than that.
