A federal judge on Tuesday rejected a request to let a TV camera into a court hearing Thursday that will center on whether Arizona's new immigration law ought to take effect July 29.
Cameras are generally prohibited in federal courts, but the First Amendment Coalition of Arizona asked the judge to make an exception under rules that allow cameras in proceedings of historical significance.
U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton says she didn't have the power to grant the group's request.
She noted that news reporters are permitted in the courtroom and that members of the public who want to follow the proceeding can order a copy of the hearing's transcript.
The Judge is a Clinton appointee.
These days they’re starting to figure out that video is forever, and patience is thin...
Transparent my ass
Exactly what is so "historical" about this? As if states have never enforced immigration laws before. The problem is enforcement has been so lax the last 20 years the commie progressives want to pretend that's never been the case.
Ping!
No problem, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times will be providing coverage. Why would we need to see it ourselves. (sarc)
The justice system is not part of the entertainment system, as Judge Ito learned to his dismay, and OJ learned to his delight.
