That's too bad. You should go. A lot of Korean war veterans are visiting this year and are astonished by how much South Korea has grown since the 50's.

That's not 100% but the part that is true might be explained by this article: Threats from N.Korea Reveal Generation Gap in S.Korea. The same lefties that inflitrated our schools in the 50's and 60's infiltrated their schools in the 80's and 90's. And even if that's true, as a Korean War Vet, no one would dare to say anything except "Thank You!" to your face.

Well, The USS George Washington is in Pusan as we speak. I "survived" the 1996 Gangneung submarine infiltration incident which put the ROK on much higher alert than the sinking of the Cheonan, so I think you'll be fine.
