Nothing ever happens there (or at least since Aaron Burr died)
Aaron Burr died in Peekskill? I did not know that!

How does a father’s decision reflect on a 12 yr old’s character? It was still impossible to dodge a draft that didn’t exist when he was 18 anyway.

When Im looking for an authority on the church, I always go with drunk atheists like Christopher Hitchens.Especially when they have nothing to lose, given advancing throat cancer, surgery and chemotherapy. I'll pray for his soul, once he is silenced and meets his Maker.

I know about the father, or any father having reasons for a major move, but Mel was never old enough to be a part of the Vietnam war draft, even he had lived in the US.
The claim that Mel was a draft dodger is just more of that fake nonsense that creeps post on the internet.

The claim was that Mel Gibson was a draft dodger, that is a lie.

I am disturbed that FOX News has even mentioned such a tabloid story as the Mel Gibson tapes! It's about money. Interested people will get the story from CNN if Fox doesn't give the story.

With the exceptions of abortion and gay marriage, the Catholic Church is a leftwing, not rightwing outfit.

Scary is right ... Especially with people like Obama at the helm.
It’s likely that Big Brother can track us on the internet.

Sorry, my reply was directed to this part of your post: "
...Mel was never in a position to be drafted..." That being said, Mel's character doesn't appear to fall all that far from the apple tree, imho. (Let's please agree to disagree and leave it at that.)
To: Dr. Scarpetta
Christopher Hitchens, eh?
I wonder it Hitchens ever considered a name change.....

It’s really amazing what passes for the thought processes of an atheist.
He’s giving Dawkins a real run for his money in paranoia.

Well, it wasn’t my post you replied to but there is nothing to disagree about. He could not have dodged the draft because no draft existed when he turned 18. That is not an opinion that is a fact. I don’t really care what your personal opinion of him is.

By moving his family abroad Mel’s dad clearly intended for all his sons (including Mel, if he were to become eligible) to dodge the draft. I agree, that a 12yr old Mel bears no responsibility for this.
