The top-secret world the government created in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work.
These are some of the findings of a two-year investigation by The Washington Post that discovered what amounts to an alternative geography of the United States, a Top Secret America hidden from public view and lacking in thorough oversight. After nine years of unprecedented spending and growth, the result is that the system put in place to keep the United States safe is so massive that its effectiveness is impossible to determine.
The investigation's other findings include:
* Some 1,271 government organizations and 1,931 private companies work on programs related to counterterrorism, homeland security and intelligence in about 10,000 locations across the United States.
* An estimated 854,000 people, nearly 1.5 times as many people as live in Washington, D.C., hold top-secret security clearances.
* In Washington and the surrounding area, 33 building complexes for top-secret intelligence work are under construction or have been built since September 2001. Together they occupy the equivalent of almost three Pentagons or 22 U.S. Capitol buildings - about 17 million square feet of space.

“..has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work.”
BS pure and simple... there’s folks that know exactly what’s going on they just don’t want us to know how much it cost etc.

Imagine that, the WaPo complaining about the same Homo-Leninists who they covet and cover while participating in the political class status racketeering just to keep their jobs.
Thats rich, Beltway Boys pretending not to be Butt boys of the Potomac.
Okay, I'm still working my way through this article, but I'd like to know how many of them are keeping tabs on, and developing strategies for dealing with, our treasonous press and Impostor in Chief.
A tease for days to ramp up circulation.
Joke!
If anyone thinks this “leak” wasn’t orchestrated by THIS administration, I’ve got a bridge to sell you. Once again, let’s blame Bush (except let’s forget about the fact that we weren’t attacked again post 9/11).
Treasonous.
Jesus, were so screwed as a country...
Nah, we’re fine. All we need a a Republican in the White House, and we’ll all feel better.
Right. I’m about half-way through this big whine about George Bush spending $40 billion more than was in the budget to defend the country. Meantime we all know what the Kenyan squatter in the White House has done — and spent.
The “Harry Tuttle” report...
They forgot to include a map with coordinates in this story.
This is the article that will finish off our defense and intel communities. muzzies love the leftist press.

Hell man... acorn has siphoned off twice that amount from the doper baby in the Whitehut.

Just because Obama has appointed incompetent people to high positions, doesn't mean the high positions aren,t important, at least for a competent administration.
All this gov’t super secrecy no one knows about except the WaPost....so why hasn’t this paper told us all about the super super secret empty suit sitting in the white house? He’s costing us trillions.
