Obama vacation brings rest, relaxation and rebuke

President Obama and his family leave Friday for a weekend getaway to Maine, but along with a little rest and relaxation comes criticism that the president is taking it easy with the Gulf of Mexico oil crisis in a critical phase.

The Obamas plan to spend the weekend on Mount Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park. The trip marks the president's third vacation since the oil disaster began in April.

The Republican National Convention launched a website blasting what it considers Obama's "leisure activities or missteps" during the oil disaster, like playing golf, attending concerts and vacationing in Asheville, North Carolina; Chicago, Illinois; and now Maine.

Obama has also faced criticism for scheduling a trip up north, instead of vacationing in the Gulf, as he advised other Americans to do.

"Presidents are certainly entitled to vacation, just like everybody else, but there is a fine line as to when presidents should do it, what they should and where they should do it," said Brad Blakeman, a former member of President George W. Bush's senior staff and the deputy assistant for appointments and scheduling.

Democratic strategist Jamal Simmons said the Republican criticism is "galling," considering Bush's frequent trips to Camp David and his home in Crawford, Texas.

Hussein has no abilities as an executive. He would struggle to manage even an ice cream cart.

While your President and his family are on vacation and I hope they enjoy themselves, this is what the American people are going through.

If others know of things, please add to the list.

1) People are loosing their jobs to the tune of over 400,000 a week.
2) People of this country are loosing their homes. 1,000,000 more this month.
3) Small businesses are closing down across the nation.
4) People are having to file bankruptcy in large numbers.
5) Parents of school children can buy school clothes or school supplys for the coming school year.
6) People are loosing, or can’t get jobs, because of the millions of illegals in the country.
7) Ghetto gangs are running our big cities and spreading to rural areas with little to stop them.
8) Unions are controlling your every move and demanding that they don’t hurt financially like the rest of the countr
9) Farmers in California can’t grow crops because of Federal laws that protect the fish instead of food for the people.
10) The people are going to be taxed higher and higher because of your programs. They are already taxed, almost, beyond their limits to pay.
11) People in the Gulf region have been layed off because of you closing down the drilling rigs.
12) One drilling rig is leaving the Gulf to go to Egypt because you won’t let them drill. A second is considering the same move.
13) A National Park in Arizona is now a haven for Mexican Cartels while you do nothing.
14) You are suing one of our country’s States for enforcing our laws. Are you familiar with the 10th Ammendment?

I’m sure others can add to this list and I would bet that it is going to get quite long. But......that being said, we all hope you have a wonderful vacation.

Whose house is Obama staying at?

Mount Desert Island

The island has a permanent population of approximately
10,000, although it is estimated that two and a half
million tourists a year visit Acadia National Park on
the
island. The island is home to numerous well-known
summer colonies such as Northeast Harbor and Bar Harbor.

Current notable summer residents include
David Rockefeller, Martha Stewart, Susan Sarandon and Tim
Robbins.

I have come to enjoy reading the commentary at the end of the left leaning media blogs.

I read Politico specifically to see their contributors spanked till they are raw.

I have been told that presidential trips to Camp David allow Secret Service contingents to be able to take a weekend off because when the first family is at Camp David, they are guarded by the U.S. Marine Corps. That said, and if it’s true, then it would seem to me that the president is doing the Secret Service guards a favor by not having them on duty for the weekends they are at Camp David.

That true or have I been misinformed?

Funny, when Bush went on vacation, the media got their panties in a wad on how he should be working all the time and not have time off !

Per http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100716/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_obama:

“According to a tally kept by Mark Knoller, a CBS News reporter long recognized by the White House as authoritative on such matters, Obama has spent all or part of 65 days on vacation, including days at Camp David. At this point in his tenure, George W. Bush had spent 120 days. That included 13 trips to his Texas ranch.”

It would appear that President Bush was twice as lazy.
