They can’t make it any worse for you now. Thats the whole point, they got their pound of flesh.
And then they leave you alone, so you wont jeopardize the on-going enterprise.
They just want their $600. Nothing more.

The Wise County, Texas Sheriff Department ran a scam in the 90's on US Hwy 287 before they were caught. I don't remember if it was Rangers or the Feds that ended it.
