I'm not familiar with the man or the artist but sounds like some here would have knowledge based on the article.

Surprised that he was that old! Figgered he’d be in his 60s...

Dust off the turntable and breakout Golden Filth. Vulgar, profane, pornographic, liberal, primitive, funny rock and roll. A guilty pleasure from my High School days..

I actually remember The Fugs.
They were pretty bad; they called themselves The Fugs because they couldn’t call themselves The Fu#$%.
Haven’t even thought about them in years!!!!

Warner-Reprise signed The Fugs...but you could not play them on the radio. The lyrics were full of sexual innuendo or worse.

I don’t remember the Fugs.
But I sure do remember the Mothers of Invention and Velvet Underground.

CCD, Saran Wrap the prologue to “I Couldn’t Get High” about the Tomato Lesbian Dwarf Orgy was hardly innuendo. LOL

Yeah, The Fugs were pretty much small potatoes, compared to Velvet Underground and Mothers of Invention, and I don’t think The Fugs as a band lasted as long as the VU and MOI.

He was a Beat poet and provocateur. You can say this for guys like Kupferberg and Ed Sanders - they walked the walk. I may not agree with them, but I can respect that.

Were the Fugs the guys with the “Nothing” song? It went something like this: “Bobby Kennedy, Nothing, Vietnam, Nothing”, etc.

For those unfamiliar with the Fugs, they were the original vulgar band. Many of their songs were not acceptable for even tue most underground FM station.
I had a Fugs album named, “It crawled into my hand, honest.” I also remember one of their other songs was named, “Squak man meets the lunatic vagina.”
They may have spawned the Mothers of Invention or at least had an influence on Frank Zappa.
