I’ll bet it’s the CARBS....just like for some Spanish people....if they avoided carbs and ate more protein they wouldn’t have the problems.
You’re not allowed to say that here.
FReepers will jump on you that it’s simply “calorie in/calorie out”
Carbs are a big deal AND lack of certain vitamins. Refined sugars and HFCS are awful. Whole grains need to be championed too (carbs are better if some get pooed out)
If it were just calorie in/calorie out, everyone would be thin.
That's certainly been the case for me.I was sent to a dietitian a few years ago because my doctor insisted that I lose 30 pounds (diabetes, hypertension).I told her about my diet and she nearly fainted. She said,in no uncertain terms,"TOO MANY CARBS".Soon after that visit I tried Atkins (although she never mentioned it) and the pounds melted off of me.After about 4 months I was off all diabetes meds and I was down to the minimum dose of one blood pressure medication. The cardiologist said that that's often what happens in cases like mine.
Yep. Hispanics eat a lot of corn-based stuff. I definitely believe in the high-protein, low-carb diet. My only point of wonderment is how Asians can eat so much rice and still stay so thin. I've seen Chinese guys that actually work at like a Panda Express or something, and at lunch break they'd get a huge bowl of rice and just shovel it down, day after day. (I used to work at the mall.) And they were skinny little dudes! I don't get it...
Carbs are the devil.
If you overload they put you to sleep. You get no exercise that way.
