Here’s the article quoting a BP official admitting what Senator Nelson (D Fla) also said.

>You do not want to get any of the oil products on your skin.<

Oh I know I don’t want any of this stuff on MY skin .. but I would like to see Obama and his family jumping in and splashing around since they say it is so safe.

Very very interesting and I hope it’s true. It’s the first plan B I have heard of. It would be amazing if this is what is finally used to stop this gusher well. This is exactly the kind of nuke you would need to kill the gusher

...... he EPFCG - a Star Wars super weapon: A device that can only be used once, the EPFCG generates a high power electromagnetic pulse. ...

***** I have long advocated a nuclear option for collapsing this well. It just may become reality

This seems to be the loci of the imiginative writer:

Why BP is readying a 'super weapon' to avert escalating Gulf nightmare

*************************************EXCERPT***********************************************

by Terrence Aym

In a desperate attempt to stop a huge area of the Gulf ocean floor from possibly rupturing due to subterranean methane gas (leading to a calamity no human has ever seen) BP has ripped a page from science fiction books.

The giant oil company is now quietly preparing to test a small nuclear device in a frenzied rush against time to quell a cascading catastrophe. If successful they will have the capability to detonate a controlled fusion generated pulse.

While the world watches BP's attempt to contain the oil gusher at the former Deepwater Horizon site, company officials have given the green light on an astounding plan to use what is known as a nuclear EPFCG charge if all else fails.

Sea floor compromised

Reports still indicate that methane is flooding the Gulf waters at a rate one million times more than normal, and the NOAA research vessel, Thomas Jefferson has reported spotting new fissures. [1]

Last week the science ship stunned some reporters with the revelation that the oceanographic team had discovered and measured a rift in the ocean floor miles from the BP wellhead. The rift was reported to be more than 100 feet long and widening. Oil and methane continues to plume from that rift.

BP has also admitted damage beneath the sea floor. [2]

The Omega plan

Most enterprises—whether business, government, or exploration—have a Plan B to fall back on. To date, BP has attempted Plans B through N. Yet it is the last ditch plan-the Omega plan-that hold the greatest risk. Yet that plan may be the final hope to stop what some insiders now consider a catastrophe that could culminate with a world-killing mass extinction event that modern civilization could not survive.

At a super-secret security base-CFB Suffield-located in southern Alberta, Canada, area reports indicate that high level engineers, physicists and military scientists are feverishly working to complete an ‘explosively pumped flux compression generator’ (EPFCG).

According to published scientific papers [see sources below] an EPFCG generator can be powered by a very small, controlled fusion explosion-in other words, a tiny nuclear bomb.

Why the UK based BP has set up operations at CFB-Suffield is obvious: The company already runs three oil rigs on the base, have worked with Canada’s chemical and biological efforts on and off for almost 40 years, and have strong ties to the Commonwealth’s infrastructure.

The CFB Base, which incorporates DRDC Suffield, is one of six Canadian military research facilities and critical to the security of the country. DRDC Suffield is the lead facility for all of Canada’s engineering and weapons systems R&D.

The EPFCG—a Star Wars super weapon

A device that can only be used once, the EPFCG generates a high power electromagnetic pulse. It achieves this by using a powerful explosive, preferably nuclear. Advanced, nuclear driven EPFCGs can instantaneously create up to billions of amperes and hundreds of terawatts. Such raw power exceeds lighting bolts by huge orders of magnitude.

Man oh man....this is a HUGE Problem....Gas for the Centuries too come...if we don’t blow it up....

North America has the largest natural gas deposit in the world. :) As long as the land stays stable and it does not get bombed, we are in like Flynn.

In another post you said you were afraid I was reading doom reports. Since the media is not reporting because BP and the government are clamed up and manipulating the public experience to protect Obama, we have no choice but to read everything and see if is backed up or responsible. I try to only take in the stuff leaked out by scientists, published papers, oil experts and people in power.

Although I think the oil drum web site is interesting and useful from an oil well engineering stand point and I read it, I also know it is dominated by oil industry representatives who really, really need the public to continue supporting Gulf oil drilling. They give the impression that they are certain that once we cap this well, all is fine and dandy but we are just now scanning the bottom with sonar of the Gulf to see if the sea bed is stable beyond the oil well over the whole deposit. People here shout down Matt Simmons w/o any expertise or scientific information for such dismissal of his observation concerning the “river” of red goo oil found in the Gulf exceeding in quanity of oil leaking from the well head. I think accusing him of only wanting to make money on BP stock is stupid industry political slogan material. That dummy stuff does not cancle what he is saying. It is like excusing Clinton or the Black Panters voter intimidation case with “everybody does it” slogans.

This is what happens with people are deprived of valid information. Check out old Haley Barber make an ass of himself playing down the seriousness of this disaster to keep tourist money flowing in this news clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Bj_kco8qTQ&feature=player_embedded

He spent huge political capital running his mouth without knowledge of the dangers of corexit in the water and acting like Mississippi was immune to oil invasion from a little oil leak. Just the usual few “tar balls.” Democrats are going to ruin him with this show of ignorance showing him running his tourist industry mouth with background pics of oiled beaches and marshes in Mississippi. Ole Haley should have been reading some “conspiracy” sites to find the public health information available on corexit and the magnitude of this leak before opening his big mouth. I can’t believe he was stupid enough to do this - unless he only listens to self interested shills and was misled! Many web sites were ridiculing and laughing at him because they had more accurate info and common sense.

So anyway, you are right that I scour as much as I can on what has been written and documentated about this disaster and that includes data gathered from “conspiracy” sites. I don’t believe in the wild conspiracies, but if they have valid data amid the nutty stuff, I collect it and research that information futher. It is like mining for nuggets of information. I really don’t think the concern for human life plays a pivital role (like it does in my value system) in a cost benefit analysis that is being used for decision making on the use of corexit or in closing down the beaches for swimming. I don’t think they are being honest with people on the implications the disaster in the food supply and in human health. In addition, it is about time they scanned the deposit on the sea floor to document the extent of sea bed compromises so they can stop shouting down Matt Simmons with dummy stock market slogans.

I did not get it that information you are referring to from oil drum, rather found it through researching the nonsense posted on a conspiracy sites. :) Just sayin’...

Why would they be doing all this if don’t think there’s a possiblity that Matt Simmons is telling the truth? Smokin’joe, what did you find in your expert research when you scanned the sea bed over the oil deposit?

A "high-powered electromagnetic pulse" won't shut in an oil well, but it might fry some computers and other assorted micro-circuit dependent devices.

What people are ignoring in their panic is that:

1) the entire 'methane bubble' (I know, but forget the fact that there is no bubble, it is methane coming out of solution in the oil, and even that is spread through the small pores in the rock) was controlled just fine for God only knows how long by the layers of rock and sediment on top of it.

2: That that pressure can be replicated by pumping heavy drilling fluid in at the bottom of the wellbore via a relief well, effectively staunching the flow of oil and gas and that

3:To explode, one of two things would have to happen: pressures exceeding those which existed in the virgin reservoir, or the introduction of massive amounts of oxygen in the proper proportion in order to have an explosive chemical reaction (and an ignition source).

Knowing a simple law of physics (that pressures in a closed system equalize throughout the system) negates the first possibility.

That the relative absence of oxygen we have all been assured exists there will prevent a chemical explosion.

Not even the ravings of abiotic theory can muster the pressure, because the system was closed when drilled into, and the blowout did not occur then, but later after the riser was displaced and the plug leaked and the reduced hydrostatic permitted the oil and gas below the plug to travel to the surface--the gas, being lighter and under reduced pressure expanded in volume and got to the top first, where it ignited, in the presence of oxygen.

Now, If everyone would stop rowing for a second and equalize the thrust on the starboard and port sides, maybe they could quit paddling madly in circles.

If the Government would get the Hell out of the way and let the people who know what they are doing take care of the problems, from skimming the oil off the water to building sand berms to protect wetlands, to getting the job done, then it'll get done faster, better, and even cheaper. Imagine that.

They used to believe the deposits were separate, encased deposits but they found out in the recent past it is not. The methane freely travels from one deposit to another.

Do you have a link?

They already told people to swim in the poluted waters that EPA said were dangerous to human life! Michelle just visited and called for everyone to come on down and swim!

Michelle only wants Democrats to come down for a swim. Republicans weren't mentioned...

My knowledge about the methane deposits came about when we were having methane leak into water supplies in Texas a while back and deposits exploding willy nilly in Texas and Oklahoma. Common knowedge from the industry was that if they filled mined cavities with water, it would preclude oxygen from seeping in, mixing with the methane and causing unhappy explosions. It turned out the water pumped into the “sealed” methane gas cavities flowed out and was replaced with air that mixed with the methane and resulted in willy nilly explosions. From that, researchers determined the methane cavities are not sealed or isolated as claimed by the oil and gas “experts.”

It was a long term research event...I am not going to go back and research it all again to give you links. Smokin’joe apparently is an expert on methane deposits in North America and all this so I asked him to give us links to his research in the area.

If the seabed and bedrock are already fractured/compromised, then nuking it would be a bad idea.

Not according to Cuba, Russia and the UN who are all in a tizzy that the US is threatening the coasts of all nations touched by the Gulf stream... That travels to Europe. Bill Clinton is also out testing the “nuke it” final solution.

From the videos I saw of children and parents swimming in obviously gooey oil infested waters, you are most-likey correct that they are brainless liberals. However, here’s ole Haley Barbour calling down Republicans to die in his Gulf waters for the Mississippi economy. The Barbour clip is at the end of the video if you want to just skip to it.

I think he was trying out for a part in the remake of the Jaws movie. ;)

Well...I am depending on Wikipedia here :

Barnett Shale

*********************************EXCERPT*************************************

Hydraulic fracturing

Hydraulic fracturing carried out in the Barnett Shale is done by pumping water into the well bore at a sufficient pressure to create and propagate a fracture in the surrounding rock formation down hole. This is crucial in low permeability rock as it exposes more of the formation to the well bore and greater volumes of gas can be produced by the increased surface area. Without hydraulic fracturing the wells would not produce at an economically feasible rate.
