Lifelong Yankee fan through thick and thin with The Boss. Thanks for the championships, boyhood dreams, and many enjoyable trips to the stadium.

Now, there goes a Titan. He’ll be met at the Pearly Gates by Billy Martin to go over tomorrow’s lineup.

Mr Steinbrenner was notorious for having his players clean shaved with short haircuts.
I hope he doesn’t walk to the pearly gates and tell St Peter to get a haircut.
RIP-—the Boss

Red Sox fan here.
It was fun being able to bash the Boss while he was an active owner of the Yankmees. But he was a good owner and there were times I wish he had owned the Red Sox instead.
Goodbye George, you were good for baseball.

Steinbrenner was a huge supporter of UF, so it’s a sad day for the Gator Nation.

"The Boss" - as he was so aptly named by his longtime antagonist, Daily News columnist Mike Lupica I don't believe this.

Wow, probably the top two most influential Boilermakers in sports passing in the same year, Wooden and Steinbrenner. Great men, but as differnt as could be. RIP George.

Alas, poor Steinbrenner! I knew him, Horatio - a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy.

Too bad it wasn’t Peter Angelos.

Not a big fan of George, but I admired his desire to win. More than I can say for the owners of the Pittsburgh Pirates...

The man had been in very poor health for some time. I only hope that the league-run Texas Rangers scooping Cliff Lee away from him at the last minute was not what set him over the edge. Sure could not blame him for being upset about it.
