Memorial Day weekend. Skipped Arlington wreath-laying for a get-together across the street from Louis Farrakhan’s house.
But, that’s IT, isn’t it? ONCE in nearly 2 years. Bush #43 vacationed at home in Crawford. Bush #41 vacationed at home in Kennebunkport. Reagan vacationed at their ranch in Santa Barbara. Nixon had a place in San Clemente. Ford had his cabin in Colorado. All of the Republican Presidents went HOME for respite. When they traveled, it was on business. It wasn’t to “vacation” and they didn’t drag an entourage of extended familly and friends along at tacpayer expense.
Clinton and Obama are different. Clinton didn’t have a home, having lived at taxpayer expense his whole life. Obama has a lovely home in Chicago, but he doesn’t seem to want to spend any time there. And when both the Clintons and the Obamas travel they seem to take a huge number of people with them for built in entertainment.
I wonder if Hillary still takes her mother along on trips now that she’s with the State Dept. Her mother seemed to tag along on every one of her trips when she was First Lady. It was almost like Robin Givens when she was married to Mike Tyson — mama slept at the foot of their bed during their marriage to keep him from beating Robin up.
The Clintons took an entourage of 800 of their closest friends to Africa. And Hillary took 1000 close, personal friends to China. At our expense.
