It just doesn’t seem possible that what is happening is happening.

I agree. But, we ignored Rand's warnings 50+ years ago and let the politicians blind us to what they arew doing.

Ultimately, WE are to blame for falling asleep at the switch.

somewhat true, but it was the “Greatest Generation” returning from WWII (my Dad, Batan Death March survivor included); that took the seeds that Roosevelt planted. A sense of entitlement...the GI Bill and then retirement on the scam of Social Security, collecting far more than they ever paid into. (yes actuarial misforecast but the facts are the facts).

Government payments exceed for the first time private wage (a spike but illustrative)

We are now a nation of slackers. In capitalism to receive work without pay is a “sin” because it is a complete loss to productivity...a black hole.

In American, today, it is a right. What was good for welfare pimps and public housing queens (have an illegitimate baby and you get your own free unit), is now a “right” for everyone. “foreclosure prevention” bailouts, stimulus for cities...

Problem is no one is creating wealth anymore, which is necessary for government to take a slice to pay for these entitlements.

As wealth decreases, government must take bigger slices. As capitalism sputters under the slacker load, government ownership will increase.

Wealth creation will now be under control of government and you will “work” when and where they tell you.

Republicans in office want to be “in charge” of this as much as Democrats.

As Pravada has noted we have become more communist then Russia (though it has its own brand of thuggism)

“to be paid and not to work is a sin” Ann Rand would agree?

But....it seems more and more people would rather have the gov’t take care of them and vote in politicians who make promises to them.

I still remember the woman filmed on YOUTUBE who was over-joyed at the fact that with O in office she wouldn’t have to pay her mortgage or car payment.

The Joe the Plumber moment was a big ‘tell’. And the O still won.
