...Morales' essay crossed a number of red lines in tightly controlled Cuba, including openly discussing corruption rumors surrounding the recent dismissal of a top aviation official who had fought alongside Ernesto "Che" Guevara and Fidel and Raul Castro in the 1950s.
"There must be some truth to these reports, because this is a small country where everyone knows each other," Morales wrote.
He also said some Cuban officials are preparing to divide the spoils if Cuba's political system disintegrates, like the shadowy oligarchs who emerged from the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990s.

cronyism in communism, NAooooooo...i mean who would have thunk it...
I have often heard liberals say that at least communists get rid of corruption under the czar, Batista, or whomever.
The truth is, no one is more corrupt than the communists. Their who system is one of corrupt anti-human violence, dedicated ultimately to the death of the human race.
But as for day-to-day corruption, nothing beats a dictatorship for promoting that. First, it is almost a necessity to break rules in order just to survive: thus the morality of the people is destroyed, as it is a its base by anti-religious persecution and propaganda, and lack of legitimate opportunity. Second, the power of the Party gives endless opportunity to corrupt personalities.
As revolutionary belief decays, even the high Party officials become materially corrupt, as they have been spiritually corrupt from the beginning.
Even North Korea is wracked with corruption, and surely they use the most violent punishments in an attempt to control the problem. However, when you are vicious in punishing dissenters, and then vicious in punishing ordinary people just to keep up the fear level, why should a person not risk being materially corrupt, since the punishment will come to everyone, no matter what?
