Doesn't look bad now. The real test will be when the sun goes down. If it can survive Thursday night, things will be okay- probably. It's a sad state of affairs when a group of thugs think they can riot when things don't go exactly as they want. Some of these people were probably hoping for an acquittal so that would give them an excuse for mayhem. This is the price we pay for giving in to these thugs in the past.

The jury is to be commended for getting this one right. It is hard to justify the adding a weapons-related conviction with an "involuntary" manslaughter conviction. If you say "it's a crime with a gun", that doesn't mesh with "he didn't have any control over doing it". It strikes me as a compromise, where a voluntary manslaughter conviction seems more appropriate.
I can understand people peaceably demonstrating against the verdict. Let's all pray it stays peaceful.

Looks to me that so far it’s the usual, local commies and anarchists with a sprinkling of Oaklanders. Peaceful so far but when the hoodies come up, watch out.

I would not want to be on the streets of Oakland or Los Angeles tonight.

I have to agree with the jury. Involuntary manslaughter fits the evidence. 2d degree murder and voluntary manslaughter do not.

and that would be different from other nights how?

I hadn’t heard about the additional weapons charge. Seems odd as he was being paid to carry one.

Muslims already do this. A Christian teacher in Pakistan had a hand cut off by a Muslim student offended by a test question.

There is going to be two riots. One tonight, and one after the sentencing.
