Some Democrats, even in Arizona, are fearing an election backlash over immigration, as President Obama sues Arizona over its new immigration enforcement law and pushes Congress to pass a comprehensive immigration overhaul.
"My concern is that the federal government is suing the state of Arizona, ironically, over the ability to enforce immigration laws -- where if the federal government had been doing its job over the years, we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place," Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., said.
Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard, the Democratic nominee for governor, urged the Obama administration to back off Arizona's new law, which allows state and local authorities to ask people for immigration documents during unrelated enforcement encounters such as traffic stops.
The president appears to be out of step with public opinion on immigration. The latest Fox News Opinion Dynamics poll shows 2-to-1 support nationwide for Arizona's law, including 73 percent of Republicans, 57 percent of independents and one out of three Democrats.

Obama already threw them under the bus with Health Care, now they worrying about the back wheels of the bus?
Substitute McCain for Giffords and you will have been right at least twice today.
>Some Democrats Fear Backlash Over Obama’s Handling of Immigration<
???
If they had a brain in their heads they would be terrified and jumping ship
There are 5 or 6 candidates in the GOP primary. I don’t know enough about any of them..I’ll try and do some research
Gabby Girl was a massive supporter of DeathCare. I went to two of her three town halls (real town halls, not phone-ins or by appt) that Her Highness finally had to come out of hiding for last summer. No matter that the vast majority of the audience (randomly picked by raffle tickets to speak) was against CommieCare, she of course lied and lied and said that we supported it.
That's when she wasn't lying on the public channel about all of us carrying swastikas, etc.
Or lying how constituents threatened her (a gun allegedly accidentally fell to the floor in Douglas, right on the border, she was soo frightened. No one was arrested.).
OK, I'd better stop with her lies or I'll be here all night.
I just saw this on our local board, in case you haven’t seen it:
“The field of candidates vying for the Republican nomination in Congressional District 8 just got a little smaller.”
“Four candidates are left in the primary after Andy Goss dropped out of the race this morning.”
“Goss said he will support Jesse Kelly in the primary. Goss exit leaves Kelly, Jonathan Paton, Brian Miller and Jay Quick in the race to face off against incumbent Democrat Gabrielle Giffords in November.”
Thanks for the update...have you decided yet?
You’re very welcome. I sure haven’t.... I’m still unsure. I met a few of them at a Sonoita Tea Party, heard all of them speak, including Andy Goss, that day.
I like all of them except not so much Paton, but it seemed like he had the best chance to get the Grill out. Now it looks like the real conservative, Kelly, is catching up (good).
