What about the cost of the tens of billions they send back to Mexico that does not get spent here in the US. In a booming economy it is not noticed so much but now it is contributing to no or negative economic growth (jobs).

If the illegal workers were not sending money back to Mexico, and central american countries, we would probably be asked to pay for much more expensive foreign aid. I suspect that money sent directly to families is probably spent more effectively than large sums sent to countries where bribery (la mordida) and payoffs are endemic.

The article also points out that the children who are born here and are therefore citizens, grow up, get jobs and pay taxes and social security, thus repaying their education costs. That being said, I think the borders need much better control measures. I also don’t think any child born here of an illegal that was conceived in another country should be a citizen. This would reduce the attempt to enter the country while pregnant.

Another thing the article points out is the businesses that are supported by illegals making purchases. An interesting test case is Prince William County, VA, in the outer suburbs of Washington, DC. There they passed and vigoriously exercised a law against illegal immigrants. The result is that there were a large number of home abandonments and foreclosures, real estate prices dropped more than 50%, and many businesses failed. The County now has severe tax revenue, budget problems, more so than any other county in the area. The experiment continues in Arizona, we will see if they have similar or different economic results.

Personal observation: I went today (100 degree temp. predicted) to Home Depot to buy ACs. At 11:30 am there were about 40 hispanics hanging around hoping for work. When I left at 2 pm, there were about 25. On other occasions I have seen as many as 100. While they may be costing some of us money, others are saving money on cheap labor for home improvement projects.

I have achallenge for Freepers:

Get out your phone book & find the Western Union station closest to you. Many are in the grocery stores.

Go there on a Friday afternoon or a Saturday morning.

Just sit & watch the parade of persons lined up to send their money south of our borders.

Get an eyeful & pass this info on to others.

Be prepared to be shocked.
