I have often agreed with the concept the history repeats in a endless loop. Only the scale and detail changes a bit, but the end results are the same.
What is interesting is that societies devolve and destroy themselves no matter what form their central government or leadership takes.
The root issue is the Human component and humans always study history for a guide to the future, not taking into account the failures. (Idealism)
