Outside of Republicans, shes not popular at all. According to our NBC/WSJ poll, just 29% view her favorably, compared with 43% who view her unfavorably (not far from George W. Bushs 29%-50% score). In addition, the poll shows that 52% have problems with a candidate who has been endorsed by Palin, versus only 25% who are comfortable with that attribute. Weve said it before and well say it again: Palin is more of a political celebrity than a political figure. ~First Read
This is true, but there is nothing here about Palin that we know now that we didnt already know a year or a year and a half ago. Her unfavorables among non-Republicans have gone up steadily since the Republican convention in 2008, and outside of a dedicated core of admirers and a few critics no one is taking her political chances seriously. This is the same as it has been for a very long time. As Josh Green notes, it would normally be absurd to think that someone with a 14-point favorability deficit was a serious presidential contender, and there arent that many non-partisans who think that she is anything of the kind. The reality is that the more independents and Democrats see of Palin, the less they like. In a country where these people make up at least 65% of the electorate, Palin is essentially unelectable in a general election. This isnt a difficult call to make. The question to which we dont know the answer yet is whether the GOP is so willfully blind to this reality and so bent on self-destruction in 2012 that the party nominates her anyway. For all of the reasons I have given before, I very much doubt that Republicans are this foolish. It is possible that the GOP will decide

Go Grizzly Mama, all the way!!!!
Yeah this polls smells like BS. Every candidate that she has endorsed ends up winning. So if she is so unpopular, why do candidates beg for her endorsement.
Just an interesting note, from Rasmussen:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 24% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -20
We'll see where the socialist in our White House stands in 2012 and where Palin stands, but it's silly to dismiss her (or even him) at this point in the election cycle. Four years ago we had it on the best authority that we'd be watching Giuliani v. Clinton with Hillary essentially a guaranteed winner in 2008.
Everyone she endorses win. Who has this guy endorsed?
The writer also ignores the fact that no Republican can win without the passionate support of grassroots conservatives.
I don’t buy it. I don’t see how her unfavorables go up after what they did to her during the election. If anything, I think that the more exposure she gets, the more soccer moms realize she’s not the anti-christ. My guess is that polls are being skewed by pollsters trying to kill her chances.
Pat Buchanan’s magazine is CINO. The guy is a loser.
Although I don’t doubt that leftists hate Sarah, and that a lot of other people have likely had the wool pulled over their eyes by the MSM.
Ronald Reagan had the same problem, until people watched him in the debates and were able to judge him for himself against a clearly weaker opponent. But the media did a pretty good job of demonizing until Reagan got the chance to speak directly to the American people on Prime Time TV.
That is because this poll is as reliable as Obama saying that jobs are being created LOL. This poll is pure BS. If people were turned off by the people she was endorsing then guess what, some people would not have been up in arms about her endorsing McCain and Fiorina, they would have been all for it since it would have ruined their chances. By the time 2012 comes around, my doggy could beat Obama..these rats are just afraid of Sarah Palin in the White House..they can smell it coming and it scares the crap out of them
Funny the crap that gets printed.....
Ronnie Reagan had people that did not care for him either, at first. Then look at what he did for America as President...a REAL President I might add.
Palin bashers are usually anti-American, scared liberal cowards, or worse.
Outside of Republicans, no one likes Republicans, according to these polls. So what else is new?
We’ll never win by trying to get “them” to like “us.”
We can only win by consolidating our base and helping to break apart the loose ties that hold “their” base together.
I have an idea for a poll...Would you prefer to give Obama four more years to enact his policies or give Palin a chance to fix our problems?
If he is writing for Buchanan’s mag, he is likely about as anti-Frum as you could get.
I like Sarah Palin because she is so much smarter than the average Republican officeholder, such as Mitch McConnell, Orrin Hatch, John Boehner ......... et al.
The author of this article is a typical hand wringing ass clown who is worrying about things that will take care of themselves.
It is my feeling that she is wise enough not to run.
Her time will come.
She will be the first woman to become President, but it won’t be 2012.
My guess is that Romney will be our next President.
He is not a particular favorite of mine, but realistically he is as conservative as any Rockfeller Republican named George Bush or the Kansas Conciliator Bob Dole.
Okay, Daniel. You say that nominating Sarah Palin is tantamount to conceding the 2012 election. Who among the likely field would do better? Or more to the point, are you under the impression that any of them would? And if so, why?
I love her too.
Well, Mitt will get elected w/out my vote.
The RINO relic lost last time out without mine.
