Total nonfarm payroll employment declined by 125,000 in June, and the unemployment rate edged down to 9.5 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. The decline in payroll employment reflected a decrease (-225,000) in the number of temporary employees working on Census 2010. Private-sector payroll employment edged up by 83,000.

The top issues among independents and undecideds in 2008 were jobs and the economy. If our side had talked jobs and the economy instead of screaming HUSSEIN-WRIGHT-AYERS at the top of our lungs, we might be pulling out by now.

You probably have people losing benefits, that’s what you’re really seeing. Remember Congress is trying to pass an extension. If the don’t, then I would almost expect the rate to drop drastically.

Sorry, but you’re incorrect. These statistics are constructed from surveys of households and businesses, not new unemployment insurance claims.
Don’t disinterr old discussions, particularly if you haven’t read the entire thing.
