“What happened to the NRA?”

C’mon Laz, this crap has been going down at the NRA for 40 years at least.

They’ve never worked foe us; its always been money and power and global everything.

“What happened to the NRA?”

They have decided to follow the AARP and AMA into oblivion by thwarting the will of their members. Look for a real tanking of membership if they really do endorse this loser.

“What happened to the NRA?”

The same thing that happens to government when there are no term limits: The people in power direct most of their efforts to staying in power. La Pierre is a politician and he has appointed another one (Cox) to deal with the governmental politicians. They both need to go but the way the directors are nominated and elected pretty well guarantees that no such thing will happen. La Pierre will probably die in office and be succeeded by Cox thus ensuring continuity of sleaze.

I’m glad I’m out of there...

Sometimes organizations become too large. The NRA is now all about the NRA, not gun owners, not gun rights. They are about sustaining the organization. People need to quit, return their membership cards, cancel payments etc. No different than AARP. They were more concerned about expanding AARP Medicare Supplemental plans than they were about their members. NRA ASSUMES, it's members will never leave and forgive their betrayals. We need a new competing organization representing gun owners.

The same thing that has happened to the GOP: it's members allowed the leadership to do pretty much whatever they wanted to do. No matter how much they betrayed us, we kept sending them money and voting the way they wanted us to instead of thoroughly cleaning house.

Even nearly two years after the debacle of 2008, how much has really changed for the better? It all comes back to the failure of conservatives to get out and get involved in these organizations to change them from within. Will conservatives finally lose their apathy and find the courage to bring about this real change? I honestly don't know anymore.

The NRA leadership is less short sighted than many of it's members. Do you really want Schumer to be Majority Leader of the Senate?
