Wait a few seconds..the video will load. Amazing report.
The Air Force is moving its water-survival courses from the Florida panhandle to eastern Washington because of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Officials suspended courses at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla., on June 4 when the commander of the detachment that runs the training discovered petroleum byproducts on shore. The course is now being held in classrooms and pools at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. a plan commanders say is short term and imperfect.
Theres simply no replacement for exposure to the practical experience, said Lt. Col. Christopher Tachney, commander of the 66th Training Squadron, whose Detachment 2 runs the courses.
The relocation of the training is the only direct impact of the oil spill the Air Force has seen so far, service spokesman Maj. David Faggard said. Pilots at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., are operating under an increased safety awareness level because the oil slick could hinder a recovery effort in case a pilot had to eject.
The Air Forces water-survival course runs 48 weeks each year and covers a variety of topics, including how to land in the water with a parachute and how to survive in the elements. Much of the training usually takes place in a one-square-mile area of Pensacola Bay, Fla. It was near this area that detachment commander Capt. Mike Erdley discovered an oil-like substance near the seawall.
The bases industrial hygiene technicians confirmed the substance as a petroleum byproduct.
They had been on the lookout for this, Fairchild spokesman Staff Sgt. J.G. Buzanowski said. It was just a matter of time.
He’s probably messed up the Oval Office floors with those cleats worse than Clinton did with his...stuff
Too damned late now...
I can just hear your justifiably highly pissed off coon-ass saying "What in the damn hell is a modalities" .
"To be clear, the acceptance of international assistance we announced today did not mean to imply that international help was arriving only now," said State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley. "In fact, before today, there were 24 foreign vessels operating in the region and nine countries had provided boom, skimmers and other assistance."
Note the weasel words that are not backed up by the PDF file released a week ago by the State Department. Stating that 24 foreign vessels are operating in the region could simply mean foreign vessels had been allowed to proceed to their respective destinations doing business as usual. Again the State Dept.'s list from a week ago does not list ANY foreign vessels were in fact being used. Of what was listed (berms, skimmers, etc.) seem to have been transferred to US ships and then used and then even those items accepted were minuscule.
There is no if, ands, or buts about it - international assistance was shunned due to idiocy, arrogance or the more reasonable rationale: don't let a minor crisis go to waste when you can have a larger crisis and then blatantly use it to push Cap and Trade. As I've said to liberals since O's big O Office speech - any queasiness about accusing Obama and the Dems of purposely allowing this spill to expand on purpose to push Cap and Trade was settled when O used his speech to push the issue.
Remember that when you're hanging with liberal friends and family on July 4th.
That was a great video.
You should keep posting and let us know how many minutes it is.
Terrific post.
Rorschack? LOL
It looks Barry O. to me.
