gloves don’t protect brains, they protect hands. There were fewer brain injuries when fighters fought bare knuckles because you couldn’t hit that hard without breaking your hand. You don’t see the grotesque flattened noses, facial gashes, etc nowadays, but there are more catastrophic brain injuries.
That's right. As a side note, Sugar Ray Leonard's team always demanded that his fights use the lighter gloves. It reduced the impact on his head thus lessening the chance of him being knocked out and gave him an advantage because of his fast hand speed.........
