“If it persists, Byrd’s illness could complicate the financial reform bill’s path to President Barack Obama’s desk. Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, one of four Republicans who voted for the original bill, has said he might vote against the version that emerged from the reconciliation of the House and Senate versions because it adds a $19 billion bank tax.

Should Brown vote no and Byrd is unable to vote, it would leave the bill one vote shy of the 60 needed to close debate and move to final passage.”

Kerry and Dodd will have a talk with Brown and he’ll cave. Byrd’s replacement will be a certain vote for the bill. Obama’s new tax on everyone who has a bank account will be protected.

Oh and RIP.

Byrd's passing will have a dynamic effect on the vote of the remaining Senators, not static. Expect this to be spun the way Kennedy's passing was spun, to gain the sympathy vote - to "do it in remembrance of Senator Byrd."

Despicable how Dems can utilize the death of one of their own to further their agenda.

Actually, Brown came out and said he will not support the bill this time. Too many changes to the bill, within the committee, that he disagrees with.
