My wife is from WA and could not believe how vast they were when she first saw them. The perception of lakes is that you can see across the otherside and that the Great Lakes are not in reality inland seas. And a side note, Superior is my favorite. It has the best storms. Lived 2 years on its shores in Marquette.

Lived 2 years on its shores in Marquette.

I remember driving into Marquette one July 4th -- in a sleet storm.

Great weather you've got up there...

The Indians have a lot of superstitions about Superior. It definitely has some unique properties and is a neat place to visit.
