LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The LAPD is pushing for an exemption of the city's boycott of Arizona when it comes to a contract with a company that operates L.A.'s red-light cameras.
The issue was on the council's agenda for Tuesday, but they decided to postpone discussion until Wednesday.
The council has to decide whether to continue doing business with American Traffic Solutions, based in Scottsdale, or honor its pledge to boycott Arizona.
The company operates red-light cameras at 32 L.A. intersections, but the city's contract with American Traffic Solutions expires at the end of June.
The LAPD urges the city council to continue doing business with the company, saying the equipment has reduced the number of accidents and fatalities.

Ending service with American Traffic Solutions could result in traffic delays while crews remove the cameras, or it could take up to 10 months to hire a new contractor and reinstall the equipment. This may cost the city over $1 million.
Whores.
Here’s hoping they stick to their guns an fire those mean racist Arizonans. You can never have too many Mexicans in a country, except in Mexico.
Isn’t a boycott based on political boundaries a violation of the Commerce Clause?
Nothing is more important than a revenue stream I guess.
Isnt a boycott based on political boundaries a violation of the Commerce Clause?
Not if its for the right cause. See the Feeling Clause in the Constitution.
If Arizona had any honor, they`d tell L.A. to get stuffed and refuse the sale.
“If Arizona had any honor, they`d tell L.A. to get stuffed and refuse the sale.”
Unfortunately it is a private company selling the camera’s and service. In my opinion, by the very nature of the product they provide, the company has no honor.
Publicizing this move would probably result in a glut of business for them.
It was not LAPD that declared a boycott of Arizona. It was the corrupt, racist city council.
I believe chicago went through the same thing - voted to boycott, then realized they needed the cameras.
Then I hope this “boycott” eventually drives them out of business.
Hear, hear!!
And it will be “the corrupt, racist city council” that will grant this exemption because money trumps stated principles.
I could not agree more.
THE ATTACK OF THE HYPOCRITES
They don't mind a boycott as long as they themselves don't actually have to give up anything.
I prayed: "O Lord make my enemies ridiculous." And God granted it - He sent the Obamas.
.
No..REALITY is a B***h.
Since when was a government boycott even constitutional?
