Mark Levin attacks 'phony, populist idiot' O'Reilly over BP fund (BOR defending Dear Leader)
The Washington Post's Right Now ^ | June 21, 2010 | David Weigel

Posted on 06/21/2010 6:27:17 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Twice last week, Bill O'Reilly booked conservative Republican stars on his show--Sarah Palin and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) -- and came at them from the unexpected stance of defending President Obama. With Palin, he defended Obama's handling of the BP spill. With Bachmann, he disagreed with her criticism of how the BP escrow fund was set-up.

All of that sparked an outraged rant from radio host Mark Levin, which the Right Scoop has captured and put online. In it, Levin makes the case that a lot of conservatives who don't have to worry about re-election are making--that, yes, the president "shook down" BP, and that O'Reilly is a "phony, populist idiot" for thinking otherwise.

(VIDEO AT LINK)

"Let me explain something to you, Mr. Cable TV!" says Levin, not using O'Reilly's name. "British Petroleum was in the back pocket of the Democrat Party! It gave Obama a million dollars. It backs cap and trade!" And he defends Rep. Joe Barton for "speaking the truth."

He may have been inarticulate about it. There was no need to apologize to BP. I get that. But if you have an IQ over 12, you get his point, which was: we can't have a president with the power to decide when a company has to cough up tens of billions of dollars, without legislation, without oversight... this is why we have a rule of law, to sort these things out. Not a president who brings this people before him and threatens them! Here's a relevant segment from O'Reilly's interview with Bachmann, in which he gets her to basically support the idea of the fund -- Levin, reflecting a good amount of opinion out there, is so angry about the process that he sees O'Reilly as a useful idiot for even asking this.

undermine the cutting edge of conservatism.

The cutting edge of conservatism is yelling, name-calling and hanging up on callers?

Maybe in your world, Rahm.

Wanna bet that the people who disburse the money from that fund determine that Chicago teachers' unions and former Acorn employees were more hurt by the spill than independent shrimpers?

It's another 20 billion that will go to Obama's political cronies and the people of the gulf coast who actually suffered will get nothing. O'Reilly is either too stupid to realize this or he's covering for Zero.

Exactly. Bill O Reilly is the Oprah of Fox News. Their top rated show, week after week, month after month, year after year. In fact, the better the ratings, the worse the show is at Fox.

Why anyone would watch Bill O’Reilly is beyond me. For a conservative, what is the attraction other than oppositional research?

If I were named Rahm, I’d be signing your check along with Cass Sunstein, Mr. Cognitive Infiltrator.

I kind of doubt that. Obama is a moron and shouldn’t have won in 2008 but this thing is such a pressure cooker that if people down here ever thought that such a thing might even possibly be happening the response would be so deafening that he’d back down in quick order.

Jeff Miller is one of the most far right members of Congress. Jeff Miller called for Joe Barton’s head. Barton represents Pensacola. Under normal circumstances someone like Miller probably wouldn’t go along with this fund but his abject political survival is at stake and he knows it.

It is in the best interests of the country as a whole as especially of Southerners who live in the cities along I-20 that those of us down here on the coast remain in place, are able to continue living down here, that it does get cleaned up and that we are able to return back to exactly the way things were in the next few years.

Yeah, after I posted, I realized you’d prolly just copied the HTML of the ban page JimRob uses. Nice. But in my defense, I am using my iPhone. You’ve still jumped the shark on Levin. He’s one of the premier Conservative voices of our time.

BOR...thank GOD he never ran for office, as his rant would line up with some of the turds at the GOP. Those guys can’t figure out why the money is a bit short again this year.

The guy who has been #1 on Fox as long as I can remember.

He has the most favorable time slot.

BOR was obnoxious today...wouldn't let Goldberg talk and BG is 10 times more interesting than BOR.

This is embarrassing but I have to agree with you.

I can't listen to Levin. He's rude to all callers, even the ones who agree with him. Unless they are servicemen or dog lovers, he won't give anyone the time of day.

I like to read what he says because it makes a lot of sense but he needs to take some meds or something.
