It makes no sense.
It also makes no sense to fill our jails and prisons with minor pot offenses like “intent to sell” (class B felony I believe) just because you have an ounce or more.
If someone is stupid enough to drive around with 2 or 3 ounces of pot and get pulled over, fine the crap out of them. Don’t put them in the court system.
In Tennessee, a lot of those minor infractions are treated like driving drunk and those caught go through the same punishment as drunk driving. Suspension of drivers license, community service or three days in “jail” (it is more like large dorm and you are forced to work there or on a road crew), etc.
Besides illegal aliens, jails are too full with these minor offenses.
Off the point - one about jails. Why can’t we just triple the number of prisoners by doing what the military does on ships and subs? Eight hours sleep, Eight hours schooling or vocational training, Eight hours work. Allow some time not sleeping for hygiene and eating of course.
They could house three inmates per bed. I know, it’s “cruel” but good enough for our troops?
