Governor Jan Brewer Learns of President’s Directive to Sue Arizona
AZGovenor.gov ^ | June 17 2010 | Governor Jan Brewer

Posted on 06/17/2010 4:54:39 PM PDT by curth

PHOENIX – Governor Jan Brewer said she was stunned and angered to learn during an Ecuadorean television interview with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that the Obama Administration had decided to sue Arizona over its recently passed anti-illegal immigration law, SB1070.

Video of the interview can be seen at Governor Brewer’s Arizona Border Security Information website: www.azgovernor.gov/AZBorderSecurity.asp Secretary Clinton announced during the interview on June 8th that President Obama has directed the U.S. Justice Department to “bring a lawsuit against the Arizona law.”

“This is no way to treat the people of Arizona,” said Governor Brewer. “To learn of this lawsuit through an Ecuadorean interview with the Secretary of State is just outrageous. If our own government intends to sue our state to prevent illegal immigration enforcement, the least it can do is inform us before it informs the citizens of another nation.”

Governor Brewer said, “I just visited with the President in the Oval Office about our differences over immigration policy, and the one firm understanding we had was that within two weeks he would provide details of his commitment to deploy National Guard troops to the border. While I am grateful that communications have taken place about a possible visit by Administration staff before the end of the month, there is not yet a confirmed date. More importantly, no information about additional troop and border security enhancements has been provided by the Obama Administration to the citizens of Arizona.”

Governor Brewer recently announced the creation of a legal defense fund for private contributions in defense of Arizona’s illegal immigration enforcement measures – www.keepazsafe.com.

Over $22,000 in contributions have been made to the border legal defense fund since its announcement yesterday evening. Over $26,000 had previously been sent unsolicited to the Governor for legal defense of Arizona, for an approximate total of $48,000 in the fund.

It all boils down to demographics and the US has aborted and contracepted themselves out of existence...meanwhile rewarding those who have anchor babies, and welfare kids.

The numbers are scewed - taxpayers versus those on the dole - do the math. At no time in history has this been the case - survival of the fittest it aint. Harsh, but true.

I guess we’re headed like Mexico - a total oligarchy with the obliteration of the middle class.

Did Reagan sign an amnesty bill or not?

Actually yes he did, albeit with conditions for stricter border enforcement that were never honored by his political opposition to the present day. It continues to be an embarrassment on an administration that is widely held to be one of the most politically conservative in recent decades. However to the best of my knowledge Reagan didn't court the hispanic vote, insinuate people concerned with the border were racists, or send out federal prosecuters to go after "over zealous" border enforcement officers.

I know what you mean. Here’s a perfectly good thread about how the president is suing Arizona to keep it from prosecuting illegal aliens, and along comes some clown who starts posting stuff about illegal aliens and presidents who helped them.

It’s criminal how some people hijack threads to totally unrelated subjects. But what can we do to stop them?

And yet, compared to this PO--S, W's second term was pretty smooth sailing.

I get so annoyed with the Clintons and Obamas who are sheltered from all form of riffraff (i.e. regular US voters) thru taxpayer funds, yet they insist it’s quite ok for AZ ranchers to have their property openly vulnerable, and the good citizens throughout that state equally vulnerable to criminal activity.

If I really were wealthy, I’d buy every house that surrounds the Clintons homes in DC and Chappaqua, and rent each out for $10/month to a dozen illegal families.

I’d say Governor Brewer got her response from Obama within the two weeks he promised. If she believed it was gonna be roses and chocolates — or more border guards and national guardsmen — she was being willfully ignorant. I don’t think the honorable governor is that naive....

So your answer is yes, but...

What gets excused or justified is amazing.

Dubya's role as commander in chief has also been hit hard on this thread.

Another question. When confronted with a terrorist attack against our Marines, did Reagan fight or retreat?

He did. He also signed California’s abortion legalization bill when he was Governor.

Now you get to answer my question. Did Reagan state that the 86 amnesty was to be a one time event, followed with strict enforcement?

Hmmmm...I wonder if Hillary let this slip knowing it would get picked up, and would rile up another hornet’s nest against The One. Heaping another heaping helping of trouble on top of the camel’s back? She has to know he is in way over his head and unable to handle anything like what he’s now facing. Does she wait in the tall grass to plunder the fall of the king?

That was my first thought. This is a really egregious breach of protocol, so amazingly incompetent that it must actually be Hillary sabotaging Obama. Did they really think it wouldn't make it into the domestic news? Is Obama sabotaging Hillary by misinforming her of timelines?

Just wow, what the heck is going on that they are willing to step on the toes of all 50 governors (don't think for a minute that the other 49 don't feel the prick of this insult to AZ)?

The southern governors are already pissed off about the various cock-ups in the federal response to the oil spill and now the state department is out informing other countries about internal state matters w/o informing the govs first. Just wow.

No, the question you asked was to change the subject so you could give Reagan a free pass for doing what you have been villifying Dubya for not doing. (Reagan signed it and Dubya never did)

But is not the Governor of the state the Commander in Chief of the state’s National Guard? As such, can she not order the Guard deployed on the border, within her state? I surmise it is likely a matter of who pays for it.

Since citizens tax dollars are paid to gov. for (I feel) the express reason of security of our borders, all Arizona taxpayers should withhold their tax dollars or pay them to fund border patrol activities.

We all as true Americans need to put our money where our hearts are. I’m self employed and can afford a house 4 times the value of what we currently live in.

Tything and donating to “Just causes as this” are 1000 times our more important then having the biggest house, best boat or nicer cars. The cuboards are always full and my kids and grandkids are always here so life is AWSOME.

My advice is Give, Give, Give and out-spend these left wing loons.
