Hatch Introducing New Individual Mandate Repeal Bill in Senate (Obamacare)
Politico ^ | 6/17/2010 | Sarah Kliff & Jennifer Haberkorn

Posted on 06/17/2010 11:23:27 AM PDT by Qbert

PULSE EXCLUSIVE: NEW SENATE REPEAL BILLS – Orrin Hatch will introduce legislation today to repeal "the unconstitutional individual mandate and the job-killing employer mandate, the most egregious elements of this devastating health law," the Utah Republican says in a statement provided to Pulse.

Hatch's repeal effort will be the first in the Senate since shortly after the bill became law in March, when David Vitter and Jim DeMint tried. But no one is expecting Harry Reid to have a sudden change of heart and allow such a bill to come up for a vote.

“You ‘fraid?”

Is Obama the most arrogant inept U.S. president ever elected?

Many thanks to the Republicans for making this effort. I want to remind them at every turn that the public is on the side of REPEAL. The Republicans need to keep bringing this up at every opportunity and get this monstrosity nullified! Use whatever tactics are available.

I'm just afraid that some Republicans will weaken and somehow let this thing remain, all while paying lip service to doing what the people want.

I am doing what I can to keep the pressure on also.

Did Orrin ask for permission first?

The Senate is a parliamentary body. Why can’t Hatch make a motion to vote on his bill? Someone would need to second the motion, then there would be a vote.

I wonder if Orin saw what happened to his friend Bob Bennett and suddenly grew a pair. He was a real firebrand when he first came to the U.S. Senate. I liked that version of Orin Hatch a lot better than the “friends with Ted Kennedy” version.

Just the individual mandate???? How about repealing the whole damn thing??? Then, I would believe Orrin grew a set.

Did you see the part where muslims are not required to purchase insurance in this fiasco? It’s against their religion. No gambling, no interest paid on loans, no insurance.

I have seen that about the Muslims. Do you suppose they have to pay the fines or have to pay 100% of their actual medical care costs, then? Seems like you cannot have it both ways.

Don't look to Scott Brown for a second; he's too busy shooting hoops with Zero.

Hatch's repeal effort will be the first in the Senate since shortly after the bill became law in March,

Obamacare is not law simply because Congress gave it a rubber stamp! Any federal version of health care is unconstitutional since Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution does not specifically grant Congress to regulate health care! The people are not bound to comply with an unconstitutional act! The three branches of government operate only at the consent of the governed! The people have the final say as to how they will be governed!

Yep. Apparently I now have a 51% chance of losing my health insurance. And I'm in the "like-mine-and-want-to-keep-it" camp.

“Did you see the part where muslims are not required to purchase insurance in this fiasco?”

Maybe this is BHO’s secret strategy for converting us to a Muslim nation....

Think about it: it’s win-win for him. Either people buy into the system and become “soft socialists” addicted to their medical care (the way many otherwise conservative/Republican elderly feel about “their” Medicare). Or they find end-arounds to the system such as becoming Muslim! I’m pretty sure BHO would be happy with either outcome.

The ousting of fellow Utah Senator Bob Bennett must have caught Hatch’s attention.

But- Dirty Harry is up for election this November.
I think Hatch has 2 more years in the Senate.

Are you telling us that Muslim’s are driving their cars all over the USA without auto insurance?

In alot of states, you are not supposed to get vehicle registration or renewals, unless you can prove you have active auto insurance with the state minimums of coverage.

Please clarify.

Unless he also includes repealing the preexisting condition mandate to the insurance companies, this is a TERRIBLE idea!

I would love to see the whole damn thing repealed, but unfortunately the mandate is the only spring of hope to keep insurance affordable as it is. Without the mandate (and I feel, even with the mandate), there is nothing stopping someone from waiting until they are sick to purchase the insurance.
