Machinists rally

Bombardier, Cessna Aircraft and Hawker Beechcraft all are outsourcing work to Mexico and elsewhere.
"This is the birthplace of general aviation," Machinists aerospace coordinator Ron Eldridge told those gathered in the hot sun for a rally at the Holiday Inn Select hotel near Kellogg and Rock Road.
Union members from across Wichita many of them carrying signs reading "Jobs Worth Fighting For" attended the rally to protest the practice of outsourcing and to get an update on negotiations between the Machinists and Spirit AeroSystems.
Members vote June 25 at Century II on whether to accept the company's offer. Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The current contract expires that day. Machinists represent about 6,000 Spirit hourly workers.
Talk at the rally first concerned Mexico.
In Wichita, Bombardier is outsourcing its Learjet 85 to Mexico, Cessna is sending work from its Prospect plant to Mexico, and Hawker Beechcraft has closed its Salina plant and notified the union it is stepping up efforts to outsource more work, said Machinists District 70 president Steve Rooney.
"Where's our mayor? Where's our governor?" Rooney shouted from the podium. "They've got to step up and recognize this is a serious issue."
Rooney urged workers to contact their congressional delegation.

Unions are the product of “free trade”. It is a response by workers who see their economic freedom threatened by free traitors.
This was studied and commented extensively in the UK, in the early 1800s.
The free traitors know that their control over the government with respect to eliminating sovereign trade laws results in unions. They also know that unions prepare citizens for communism. They are fully on board with this process.
The free traitors also know that their push for global “free trade” will result in global communism, which is their goal, ultimately, because communist governments can control the workers to the point of slavery, with wages in keeping with that status.
That is why free traitors love communist china, and why they do business with communist dictators. There is nothing free about “free trade” and apparently aviation workers are the next target for destruction by the “free traitors”
“Unions are the product of free trade. It is a response by workers who see their economic freedom threatened by free traitors.”
You speak union propaganda. I challenge you to invest in a business controlled by union thugs. You will see your profits skimmed by union thugs without any stake in the business.
High corporate tax rate?
TARP pays money to business, it doesn’t tax them. And the corporatists that lobby congress actually write their own legislation, to be signed by the president, Obamacare, TARP and the creation of derivative mortgages are just a few examples.
I’d say the US has the highest corporate corruption rate in the world.
All unions are enemies of economic freedom>>>>>>
Utter nonsense. If you were a coal miner in 1920 you would be in the union. You know what the history was. So don’t say all. And since members of gov’t unions are by definition tax-eaters....I see them much differently than union members who are taxpayers same as you are. Are some private sector unions loony and abusive? Yes but they know that if they demand too much they are out of a job because their employer moves his operations or goes out of business.
Governments don’t move and rarely go out of business. Same for those who work for them.
No propaganda in my comments, Just facts. I said “free trade” leads to communism through trade unions. That is not union propaganda but the truth.
BTW Union thug is a free traitorism.
More's the pity.
Say what you want but there are a lot of Ma and Pa shops throughout this country that depend on this so called as you say union greed! might want to give it some thought. Before to much longer all you will hear is a big sucking sound!
“No propaganda in my comments, Just facts. I said free trade leads to communism through trade unions. That is not union propaganda but the truth.”
My challenge is still unanswered. Please put your money where your words are. Please invest in union controlled companies. Please hire union controlled firms for your personal contracts such as home repair. You are free to pay union surcharges for poor workmanship.
You’re throwing out red herrings. “free trade” creates unions. Unions groom citizens for communism. You are investing in communism, Mr. ‘business’professor.
Well, you can't be more socialist than that.
Id say the US has the highest corporate corruption rate in the world.
I disagree completely for numerous reasons.
Number one, I trust corporate america, I do not trust American Government.
To my mind, Government would just as soon rid itself of citizens. To government, the citizens are the problem.
Corporations need the American people, their investors, their customers, their owners, their workers, etc etc.
I do not understand folks who are anti-corporation. Corporations, are the life blood of our economic system. I don’t need to spell this out to anyone with common sense.
Anyone seeking to blame corporate America for all of life’s ills, is just like the person with Bush Derangement Syndrome. He isn’t the problem anymore than corporations are the problem.
This isn’t to say that life is all rosy without any problems, there are plenty to go around, all have a stake in success or failure, from individuals on up the ladder.
Yes, down with knowledge, back to the caves!
You are a the original .conservative, my friend.
Just do it the Khmer Rouge way, kill anyone wearing glasses.
Thank you for bringing some sense to this forum. Sadly, you may be attacked for opposing socialism.
In the old days, the path to profit was to build a better mouse trap. Now the name of the game is bribe a politician and move the manufacturing to a low cost location.
But, avoid paying for the infractsure of where you are moving too. The leftist support this too as it is destructive to the USA.
Notice the Unions never punished WJC for signing NAFTA?
You trust corporate America? Then you have Obama derangement syndrome, because corporate America WROTE the Obamacare bill. Corporate America gave missile building secrets to china so they could modernize their weapons systems. Corporate America funds NGOs who are paid activists to undermine individual rights and the Constitution. This is just a tiny sample of corporate America’s work. And you ‘trust them’?
Government lets businesses who decide to play ball with them to grow. But for small businesses, the government does everything they can to discourage it, so as to lock out competition for their 'preferred vendors.'
Instead of protesting the loss of jobs, maybe they should do something effective, like go on strike until things get better.
“Youre throwing out red herrings. free trade creates unions. Unions groom citizens for communism. You are investing in communism, Mr. businessprofessor.”
Your assertion is absurd. Government creates labor cartels. The 1935 Fair Labor Relations Act created the modern union movement. This law has been augmented with state labor laws and many administrative rulings. Labor cartels are lobbying hard for even more control through government in card check and the equal pay act.
You still refuse my challenge. If labor cartels are so great, please put your money behind your words.
Those union machinists bitched and moaned about outsourcing their high-paying jobs to low-wage countries, then they walked out to the parking lot, got in their hondas and toyotas and drove away...
