the signs now point to a GOP takeover of both the House and Senate.

I still don't see how they can win 10 Senate seats to gain control. That's very ambitious by any standard. They have to run the table on tossups and then swipe a few relatively safe dem Senate seats.

I don't see how they can take the Senate, but they will make great gains.

John's come back onto the conservative bandwagon now that he's in a primary fight, but if he feels safe he'll come riding in on his white horse to stab us in the back again. I voted for him, but it took two clothespins. If McCain had been elected, we never would have known how abysmally awful Obama is. I expected him to be a disaster, but he's exceeded even my expectations of awful.

Okay, if McCain got elected in 2008 and none of the disasters of Obama's presidency had occurred, what would it be like on FR with Meghan McCain running around with an actual podium to spout her valley girl random neural firings, and McCain reaching across the aisle to Pelosi and Reid?

By my calculations, the GOP is likely to pick up eight Senate seats (AR, CO, DE, IL, IN, NV, ND and PA). The only GOP seats at risk are in MO (Bond retiring) and NH (Gregg retiring).

To take control of the Senate, we'd have to retain MO and NH, plus gain two of three in CA (Boxer), WA (Murray) and WI (Feingold).

Probably not going to happen.

You've heard of the phrase "screwing the pooch" right?

And "lame duck" as well?

I *finally* found a photo which conveys both at the same time.

Just right to describe TOTUS.

Cheers!
