Government officials Tuesday increased the estimate of oil flowing into the Gulf to between 35,000 and 60,000 barrels (1.5 million to 2.5 million gallons) per day, up to 50 percent more than previously estimated.
The government's previous estimate, issued last week, was 20,000 to 40,000 barrels per day. The change was "based on updated information and scientific assessments," and was reached by Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, and Chair of the National Incident Command's Flow Rate Technical Group Marcia McNutt, the Deepwater Horizon Incident Joint Information Center said.

I wonder if this level of geyser will actually affect global climate the way environmentalists said driving cars would.

I don't know ... I guess you have to ask what those chemicals listed in Post #3 will do ...
I can only imagine the smell of all the dead fish, dead bird, etc combined with 100F temps and that awful Gulf coast humidity in summer. Hell on earth.
40,000 X 42 GALLONS A BARREL = 1,680,000 GALLONS A DAY!
At this point I have stopped finding anything from any scientist, independent or working for govt (esp the latter), BP official or any govt official and most of all any Obama cabinet member to be remotely trustworthy. It could very well be that BP was downplaying the numbers the whole time and it could also be these new numbers are exagerated using inflated calculations just in time for Obama’s speech, so he can emphasize how much oil has to be socialized immediately. We won’t know anything about how much oil made it out at all during this whole process until it’s all said and done. And even then we likely won’t be given accurate info by anyone.
THat may be the most troubling aspect of this entire screwup. BP has been hiding information from the word go. THe Government has been hiding information fromm the word go.
BP gave Obama more money than any politian in Washington.
Who is lying about what and who is protecting who?
Why are seemingly OBVIOUS technical issues not being answered or addressed at all?
errr... no.
I knew I had seen it somewhere. :-)
