CNN published a story at 9:25 a.m. this morning titled "Haley's path to Christianity leaves some evangelicals uneasy." The story informs readers that Nikki Haley, who was raised a Sikh and converted to Christianity, "still attends Sikh services occasionally with her parents and extended family." Its clearly a trouble-making attempt to gin up controversy among Republicans where there has been almost none, and so was able to find a couple pastors who question whether Haley, the frontrunner in next Tuesday's South Carolina gubernatorial primary runoff, is really a Christian.
At 9:38 a.m., the CNN story was emailed to a colleague by a campaign consultant working for Haley's opponent, Rep. Gresham Barrett.
One strongly suspects this attempt to take the low road wont work, and Haley will crush Barrett in the runoff next week. But does Gresham Barrett, who has had a good reputation and would seem to have a promising political career still ahead of him, really want to go down this path?

Obama also wrote a lot of crap in his book too.
If you’re trying to craft an image for yourself, writing a bunch of crap is the way I do it and like most people who enter politics young I imagine Jindal knew by high school he wanted to enter politics, especially considering that right after college he gets snapped up by the Foster administration.
I’m just not convinced and the reason I’m not convinced with Jindal is his choice of wife and that will come up if he runs for president. You know Huckabee will use it and I wouldn’t be shocked to see others use it too. It’s just the way politics in a diverse country works.
I don’t see what the fairness of the question has to do with a campaign aide spreading stories about an opponent being a clost Sikh.
And I can't believe people read it and still voted for him....
As to Huckabee, I'm sure he would use that as the man is a snake. The way he played the religion card in the 2008 was, to me, unforgivable.
Why does he have to concede. For all intents and purposes the Republican Primary has become the 21st century answer to the old Rooster primary and most Republican nominees win statewide by default unless there is a really bad candidate.
Why should Barrett drop out from what is more likely than not the real election? Especially when a majority of South Carolinians chose someone other than her in round 1?
In 1970 Albert Brewer polled ahead of Wallace in the first round. Wallace took the low road. Wallace beat Brewer in the runoff. It’s how politics works.
The only reason Haley supporters are so upset at what her opponents are doing are that they fear that they could work. If they weren’t afraid they’d be paying it no mind.
Well, he doesn't HAVE to concede and apparently he isn't.
49% in a four way race is enough in most states, while I do respect the right of SC'ers to be different.
Candidates with much better shots and polling have dropped out before; I'm thinking specifically about the last NC GOP gubernatorial primary as the latest example.
“Especially when a majority of South Carolinians chose someone other than her in round 1?”
You say that like 60% of the state voted against her. She had almost as many votes by herself as the three stooges combined. She won all but 4 counties, it’s not like it was close. lol
North Carolina is a two party state and has been for a long time and the Democrats have been dominant for the last 20 years.
South Carolina has always been a one party state except for the generation in which it transitioned from one party Dem to one party Rep.
In a state like South Carolina it is a legitimate question because they would not elect a Sikh on their own. So, whether or not shes really Christian or is just playing one to get votes is a legit question...
Right on. SC is the Bible belt, for heaven’s sake. The Bible thumping kind. Listening to my radio the last time I drove through SC it was very evident.
In how many did she get 50% or more?
She may have carried counties with a plurality but it still doesn’t mean a majority in said county didn’t vote against her and for someone else.
How do I know you’re a Christian?
You certainly aren’t acting like one.
The only person who knows a man’s heart is God.
Is she telling the truth or is just Sanfraud in a skirt? Did she convert for political expediency and opportunity? Does she have any core values? Does she believe in Judeo Christian principles and values? Does she believe in Hindu values?
All of these are compelling reasons to know the answer to a legitimate question.
"There are some bad Republicans. There are no good Democrats."
Passive aggressive, I hate those kind of men.
Here is Jindal’s coversion story in his own words.
It appears a girl’s sincerity in wanting to stop the murder of unborn babies put him on the path to Christianity.

the way “to” do it, not the way “I” do it.
Though even then, I was in a business where image was half of everything. You’d be surprised of how you can get someone to buy something that you thought would never sell just by having a nice brochure or such.
In fact, pretty much all of the advertising and real estate industries are based on image. Haley herself has crafted an image, the Sarah Palin of South Carolina. It remains to be seen if it will work or not.
You’re going to split hairs about the counties when she took 49% of the vote in a 4 person race? Hysterical lol.
“Does she believe in Hindu values?”
Considering she was raised a Sikh and converted to Methodist if she believes in Hindu values this election will get a lot more interesting.
Nikki Haley Leads in New Poll
Nikki Haley leads Representative Gresham Barrett by nearly 10 percentage points in a new poll.
With a June 22 GOP gubernatorial runoff looming between State Rep. Nikki Haley and U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett, a new Rasmussen survey (June 10, 500 LV, MoE +/- 4.5%) finds Ms. Haley polling far ahead of Mr. Barrett against and Democratic nominee Vincent Sheheen.
Ms. Haley nearly won the nomination outright in the June 8 primary, but fell just short and was forced into a runoff against Mr. Barrett. Ms. Haley, who had 49 percent of the vote while Mr. Barrett finished with 22 percent.
South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster endorsed state Ms. Haley earlier today.
Ms. McMaster joined Ms. Haley at his former campaign headquarters in Columbia on Tuesday to make the formal announcement.

“You mean Kristol? I think hes on HIS side.”
Kristol and Fred Barnes are Weekly Standard hacks that try to pass themselves off as conservatives, but in reality they are part of the New World Order bunch.
