Why on earth didn't the "students" just tell them who they were with. I would sure want to know that if anybody stuck a camera in my face and started asking questions.......
I forgot to add that NOTHING exonerates the congressman, though.....
They acted a little freaked out to me...definitely not professionals.
That might be true if they were engaged in conversation. Remember his first instinct was to slap at the camera and then start asking "Who are you?"
Had he simply said, "Before I answer any questions I'd like you to identify yourselves" he would be in good shape.
If they had done something physical to him, or asked (as I might) about a family member of his performing an astounding feat of sexual acrobatics with a farm animal, I could understand. But this was unprovoked assault and battery caught on video tape and the congressman should be up on charges.
Exactly! Some of these "kids" are damn rude and they are giving all conservative reporters a bad rap in DC.
They were kids and sounded a little freaked out, definitely not professionals.
Because they didn't have to. Realistically, probably due to fear of retaliation or a visit from the SEIU.
Leftists consistently seek to harm those who impede collectivism. If you don't realize this by now then there is simply no hope for you.
I would sure want to know that if anybody stuck a camera in my face and started asking questions.......
I think it is unfair to use the phrase "stuck a camera in my face" here. And besides, we aren't talking about you but rather about an elected Congressman on a public sidewalk.
How about this: if the drunk responded politely and said, “Sure, I’ll answer you, but first, who are you?” That would have been the adult and manly thing to do, expressing no hostility and implying no threat. And if the student refused politely (like he did), the drunk could have chosen to respond civilly and answered or he could have walked on. Instead, he went nuts and physically attacked the student all the while demanding to know who he is. Wrong move.
When attacking someone and demanding to know who they are (explicit attack and very implicit threat) by someone from the government, I would NEVER identify myself. Who knows what the drunk/violent crazy loon is capable of doing? Especially someone that is a democRAT with union ties.
No way would I answer and I applaud the student for being strong enough to resist the (literal) strong arm tactic to get his name.
Heck, come to think of it, our men in Afghanistan can’t do what the drunk did to the student when interrogating terrorists.
Says a lot.
From the response of this character, you’d think he was a medeival duke or baron who’d just been insulted by being addressed by a couple of sefts who had the temerity to speak without asking his permission.
We’re supposed to be a *representative* republic, for crying out loud - that implies at least a minimal accountability to the citizenry, even if the individuals in question were not constituents.
To me this ranks right up there with Boxer’s “I worked hard to get this title” as the behaviour of small people who take themselves way too seriously. He should be defeated in November; if there was any justice in the world, he’d then have to beg for a job as a fry cook (for whom I have way more respect).
Maybe because they didn’t feel beholden to bow and scrape to His Majesty??? Maybe because they work for us, instead of the other way round?
Maybe cuz it was none of his damn business?
Just a few ideas off the top of my head.
