In a bombshell development that could bring a halt to seismic changes in college realignment, sources tell Orangebloods.com Texas is at the table with the 10 remaining Big 12 schools working on a TV deal put forth by commissioner Dan Beebe that would hold the conference together.
Radio show I listen to was playing a call from that station this morning: caller was taking about how ND has destroyed the Big10. I had to laugh.
And the Aggie fight song mentions UT in a total of 14 lines!
That's because you've never been to an LSU-A&M game. So far there have been 49 of them.
Finebaum makes regular callers a part of his program more than most talk show hosts. Some of those callers are regular for their knowledge, and some for their entertainment value.
Actually, they don’t mention UT at all. Aggies could not care less about about what goes on in Knoxville...unless the SEC becomes a reality.
Texas knows that the PAC 10 offer must include A&M. And A&M may go to the SEC. Texas wants no part of the SEC nor do they want the AGGIES in the SEC. Makes too many SEC schools doin’ too much recruitin’ in Texas.
Both of my cousins went to A&M (I don't know their position on this issue), so I have been to a few games at A&M when I was growing up. Most of them versus Texas (got to go to the 100th anniversary game).
“We won in 2006 & 2007, lost in 2008 & 2009 (barely) and will probably win this year.”
As I recall, Texas beat the Aggies 40 to 29 in 2009. Only an Aggie could call a 40-29 loss barely losing.
And the all time record is Texas 72 Wins and A&M 34 wins.
Tough to catch up on that record.
18-17 since 1975. Hook ‘em hippies!
Yep, if A&M came to the SEC, it would bring more SEC events to the attention of more Texas high school athletes and coaches, especially the eastern half of Texas.
That call was definitely entertainment. I was cracking up in the car.
And the Longhorns will continue to earn more money than any other NCAA program.
Yep. But they’ll do that in any Conference they go to. (At least for a while)
There is also talk of moving the Red River Shootout to December and making it a defacto championship game.
Didn't you get the memo? It's now the "Red River Rivalry". Can't have any implication of violence in football don'cha know?
The Red River Shoot Out has lost it’s sparkle. The biggie from now on out will be Aggies-Hogs. Jones will do every thing he can to make it THE college game of the year. Especially since the Horns turned him down.
and if SMU is brought in the presence in Dallas for the B12 becomes bigger....I don’t blame CU for joining the P10- they could not compete in the B12 and were in the redheaded stepchild division of BCS conferences...
please post updates...at work and cannot download streamplayers- thanks...
I got the memo and used it as tp.
I also still refer to the Washington Wizards and the Bullets. ;)
The Big12 presence in Dallas can’t get much bigger. And CU couldn’t compete? They were the division North champs on several occassions and won a Big12 title.
Finebaum was talking to a Geoff Ketchum from 104.9 FM in Austin, then the phone connection became really bad. Ketchum said the meeting was still in progress and seemed to think the conference would stay together, repeated some of what is in that Orangebloods article by Chip Brown.
Plans to talk to the guy some more with a better phone connection later.
