OMG, I am sorry but that is an obvious assault....this guy should be standing in front of a judge. I think I would of had the right to defend myself at that point and I would have, rightfully so.
Try "would have" or "would've" instead! Sorry to pick, but this was very basic elementary school stuff back in more literate days.
As for the student who questioned the old fool, I admire his restraint. By resisting the temptation to retaliate -- even if he had the right to do so -- he has kept the focus on the Congressman's behavior instead of his own. He "took one for the team" -- and the sweetest revenge can wait until November.
