Obama to POLITICO: Congress shares the blame for BP
Politico ^ | Roger Simon

Posted on 06/11/2010 6:37:08 PM PDT by pissant

President Barack Obama said Friday that some members of Congress should share the blame for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

In an exclusive one-on-one interview with POLITICO, the president said: “I think it’s fair to say, if six months ago, before this spill had happened, I had gone up to Congress and I had said we need to crack down a lot harder on oil companies and we need to spend more money on technology to respond in case of a catastrophic spill, there are folks up there, who will not be named, who would have said this is classic, big-government overregulation and wasteful spending.”

The president also implied that anti-big government types such as Tea Party activists were being hypocritical on the issue.

“Some of the same folks who have been hollering and saying ‘do something’ are the same folks who, just two or three months ago, were suggesting that government needs to stop doing so much,” Obama said. “Some of the same people who are saying the president needs to show leadership and solve this problem are some of the same folks who, just a few months ago, were saying this guy is trying to engineer a takeover of our society through the federal government that is going to restrict our freedoms.”

“...Is our Media on vacation like Obama?...”

You have to realize that it’s not OUR media. It’s THEIR media. OUR media are sites such as FReeRepubli, The Drudge Report, etc.. Our’s is much better than their’s.

Actually, POTUS Obama has some serious mental problems. Any POTUS that would act like he does is either drinking or smoking funny stuff or, more likely is a bit unbalanced. This guy is becoming unglued and cannot face reality. I suggest only the Democrat party can cure his ineptness as POTUS. I, once again, implore the Democrat Party to force Obama to resign or impeach him, if he refuses resignation. If the Dems do not move to remove Obama from office they will be destroyed by Obama and his liberal, left-wing, socialist ilk!!! November 2, 2010 is coming fast!!!

Why would we need more regulations? Obama’s BP squad waived the regulations already in place.

So now he's blaming Congress for actions they didn't take because of things he didn't do? Seriously? Is he completely insane?

I agree. Obama is quickly losing it....I really think we will see a major melt down very soon. He cannot stand criticism, and even the left is now criticizing him.

What a complete idiot Obama is. We in the Tea Party are not against government, just big government that controls every facet of our lives. We’re against the government takeover of health care, bailouts for the under performers, union bosses, trial lawyers that sue anything that moves, SEIU, ACORN. We are FOR responsible government with a leader that sees a crisis and acts quickly and decisively. Why wasn’t he moving on DAY 2 and putting every resource America had to stop this spill? I imagine most Americans are angry now that after 50 days, Obama is still pointing fingers of blame while nothing measurable from the federal government is done to stop this horrible mess. He is completely incompetent and unfit for this office. When will the press start acting like the press and ask the tough questions that should be asked? I am weary of this fawning over such a lightweight community organizer with ZERO leadership skills.

Congress would never ever say no to a chance to spend more money.

The _resident is on LSD. Now he's hallucinating. No way do I believe this lazy-ass did what he claims.

I think that we are looking at this all wrong. While we know that Barry is a blithering idiot, we are not looking at what he wanted to do.

What was the goal in allowing this runaway oil well? I firmly believe that it was an attempt to get BP into such dire financial straights as to necessitate the government taking control of BP. With control of BP they regime could then apply pressure to Exxon/Mobil, Conoco/Phillips, Amerada Hess, etc. Forcing them into such a place as to have the government seize them too.

This is a variation of his straw man argument.

Actually, this crisis points out the limitations of Obama’s vision of big government.

I doubt it. I think his failure will not be linked to his color, but to his lack of competence, like Jimmy Carter.

It’s a travesty that the first black president had to be of the very lowest caliber imaginable. He is totally repulsive as a human being. Period.

what you say about blacks being linked to him and suffering shame, is the same way I felt when Evangelicals elected Jimmy and he let us all down...

Maybe he is really close to going over the edge....these comments are getting weirder and weirder.

I agree. He seems confused. Nothing he says makes sense. Maybe it's normal for him to be scatter brained without his teleprompter?
