What the hell? At this point, it's the only reaction we can have to Alvin Greene, the unemployed veteran who beat out a much more-qualified opponent in the South Carolina Democratic Senate primary. Watch his halting Countdown interview for yourself.
It wasn't much different than other interviews he's given on television and in print. These are all marked by a frustrating vagueness about every aspect of his almost non-existent campaign. Tonight he told Olbermann his campaigning consisted of door-to-door canvassing and a couple of "informal meetings." When Olbermann asked how, given his lack of a website and fundraising, anyone in the state knew enough to vote for him, he said: "I think they heard of my name when I was campaigning across the state to pass the word on. Just by word of mouth. I got the word out, you know."
Many people are concerned he's a Republican plant, meant to derail any Democratic challenge to Republican Jim DeMint. Which is strange logic: If the Dems' favored candidate couldn't even beat some random dude, how was he supposed to beat a popular incumbent? When asked about SC Congressman James Clyburn's call for an investigation into whether his was a puppet campaign, Greene told Olbermann, "I've always been a Democrat and I always will be a Democrat and support Democrats." But throughout the interview he paused at great length after each question, apparently being fed answers by someone offscreen. (Olbermann later said it was his lawyer, according to Mediaite.) And he refused to comment on his sexy felony charge.
On the surface, there seems to be literally nothing to Alvin Greene the Democratic Senate candidate. Every interview and profile has so far only deepened this nothingness, begging us to fill it in with our own conspiracy theorieshe's a plant! Someone's tricking him! Watching his performance on Olbermann, lobbing almost perfect non-answers at Olbermann's hard-hitting questions, you can't help but wonder if maybe Alvin Greene really is just some random dude.
Jim Clyburn has claimed that the Republicans put the guy on the ballot (planted), but dont put it past Clyburn planting this guy himself. Sounds crazy, but I noticed that Clyburn actually had a primary Challenger? Very strange in that district, I lived in that district and it was gerrymandered in the 90s and I dont remember Clyburn having a primary challenger in a long, long time.
The guy got about 100k votes and Clyburn got 50K in the 6th district alone (I'll wager that everyone that voted for Clyburn voted for Alvin. Hummm, maybe Jim was getting worried and thought he needed an additional draw on the ballot. I dont know why, as he got 90% of the vote in the primary, but dont put it past this guy to throw the entire party under the bus to insure a victory in November ( I also noticed he might have a serious opponent for the General). If this guy stays in to the general in November you can bet Clyburn is really behind this move IMHO.
BTW Clyburn is from Sumter, SC which is very close to Manning, SC which is where Alvin Greene is from. Just seem curious to me.
How much do you want to bet that everyone will know about this guy now. He’s getting an awful lot of free publicity.
So far Alvin sounds just like any other Democrat. Only difference is Alvin doesn't have a puppetmaster.
Good. It very well explains leftist and indoctrination. Stupid to the core. He should stay and fight his ass off.
That's an interesting question. I think if this "character" (good choice) is still facing a felony (I think it's a felony) charge, then I think DeMint has plenty of cover to say, "no thanks". If this guy somehow beats that rap before the fall, it becomes a little more problematic for DeMint. But, I'm not sure exactly who's going to go to bat for this peculiar person, because even sans the felony problem, he's still a very peculiar person, and someone the Dems will likely just ignore.
When he loses, I look for him to find refuge in the Obama/Holder DOJ. He'd fit right in.
I found that — odd. Looked it up, both Army and USAF.
THey could have been cut loose for
Being gay
Not meeting training standards
Poor performance
Lack of fitness (as in fat or ery poor shape)
Failure of upgrade training
Several other, less likely things are listed
Gay marriage (ya, I know, who would have thought the miliraty would get plussed over that?)
Failure to support family
bad dets and so on.
I checked the Smart Voter site - they got nothing.
If this guy is a plant, he is doing a brillent job.
Or he could just be “some random dude”
I hate to admit it but I’m starting to believe he could be a plant. But I’m not sure the GOP is smart enough to pull it off.
Interesting. Well Greene is certainly causing a lot of consternation, headaches and heartburn. Put me down as one who doesn’t think he ponied up the entire $10,000.00 on his own. That’s a lot of bucks for an unemployed man. Hmm.
Why would you think that? Do you really think that DeMint is in danger of losing in SC. Why are you smoking?
Ha ha
Olbersh*thead hates Blacks
when they ain’t on his team and got their heads right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go go Olbercreep
Go straight to you know where
Whoa! that is scary. Is all it takes for a black to vote is to see another black on the ticket??
It’s Obama 2.0 - Hope and spare change!
This is going to be a riot! Watching the left try to walk away from a black candidate who lacks the qualifications for the job should make for some great comedy.
These ‘conspiracy theories’ of him being some sort of foreign plant are nothing but racism! Face it, Olby. South Carolina Dem’s chose a black man to run for US Senate. Deal with it, you racist!
America loves an underdog. It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that he could win the general.
Actually, he’ll get closer to 95% of the SC black vote. (29.2% of the population)
If he doesn’t win this election, he couuld apply for Gibb’s job as Presidential Press Secretary.
That interview is hard to watch.
I don’t smoke. Quit two years ago. Did you see the part about the GOP not being smart enough to pull it off? He could have been sent in by the dems so they can CLAIM he’s a republican plant. The dems are crooks from top to bottom and bottom to top. Never put anything past them.
He won all but three counties. I’m starting to think he is a plant. Just not sure which side?
