HONOLULU (AP) -- President Barack Obama is urging the nation to celebrate Kamehameha (kah-MAY-hah-may-hah) Day along with Hawaii.

The nation's first Hawaii-born president signed a statement Thursday proclaiming June 11, 2010, Kamehameha Day in honor of "King Kamehameha the Great," who unified the Hawaiian Islands under one government.

Why are liberals celebrating a guy who got guns and cannons from James Cook and toted them around the Hawaiian Islands slaughtering other Hawaiians who were defending themselves with stone age weapons? In the conquest of Maui, after the Maui defenders were defeated by Kamehameha, they retreated into a canyon above the central valley floor. Kamehameha’s army cornered them into the canyon and slaughtered them.

Chickens aside, allegedly there are DNA links found in pre-Columbian human remains. I will look for more links later.

This is an interesting article, based on more traditional linguistic and archaeological methods.

Alright, accuracy must be required here. It is Kill Haole Day, not beat up Haole Day. Although, no haole was killed, to my knowledge, on Kill Haole Day, but some were beat up. It’s your typical reverse racism.

I view Kill Haole Day as Stupid Hawaiian Day, and I’m part Hawaiian.

Another party? Is Barry having another party?

We’d like to celebrate a recovering economy, a secure border, lower unemployment, health care reform that isn’t scary or riddled with so much pork you need beans to get through it.

But, Kamahamalolly wolly or whatever? Nah, I don’t think so.

I lived in Hawaii with a school aged child. I’m not talking about “Kill Haole” day, I’m talking about the weekly “Beat Up Haole” day. They are two different things. “Beat Up Haole” day normally occurs on Friday. This pronouncement in my mind legitimatizes both events. One just happens more often. This is really a dagger to the heart because the most loving, kind, and conscientious people I’ve met in my world travels have been in Hawaii. Maybe it’s like the Amish- they get the piss and vinegar out of their system as teenagers before living in the adult world. Of all the places I’ve lived, I’ll always consider Hawaii home. The Hawaiians have been the most wonderful people in my travels. Again, I think the teens do their rebellious thing before growing up and living “Aloha.”

I was born and raised in Hawaii, and I’m Hawaiian. I’ve never heard of “beat up haole day”, although, I don’t doubt you.

Generally speaking, Hawaii’s youth, and especially in more rural areas consisting mainly of “locals”, can be rough. Fighting is just a part of life. This is not to say that my parents encouraged this kind of behavior, or a lot of other parents, but when kids are in school they can behave unruly.

I believe that the liberal ideology and indoctrination in schools helps to foster this kind of hostility.

It is true(and I’m not bragging) that Hawaiians can be some of the most hospitable and charitable people you’ll ever meet. In my travels I have come to appreciate that Aloha more and more.
